Jim Gilchrist For Congress!

* * *

Minuteman Project co-founder Jim Gilchrist is considering running for Congress!

President Bush has just appointed Congressman Chris Cox (R-California) to the Securities and Exchange Commission. This leaves an important vacancy in Congress for California’s 48 th Congressional District!

Gov. Schwarzenegger is required to set a special election date within two weeks of the appointment.

If ever there were a time to support a fellow Minuteman, it is now!

Jim is seriously considering running for this seat. And, if he wins, he’ll take the fight to protect our borders straight to the President with REAL border security legislation!

California’s 48 th Congressional District sits squarely in Republican Orange County with over 50% registered Republicans!

The problem is Gov. Schwarzenegger and the Bush Administration have already anointed their “establishment candidate”--even before the announcement! California State Senator John Campbell is soft on immigration. And, this precisely what the governor and the president want.

We cannot afford to have another congressman in DC who is willing to sellout our country’s national security for party gain!

That’s why we need Jim in Congress!

Jim isn’t just a volunteer and Minuteman. He’s a former Marine and Vietnam veteran. He’s a businessman with an MBA and an experienced tax accountant. And, he’s a former reporter with years of media experience.

Jim is the perfect man for the job!

Zero chance of winning, but he has a shot at electing the Democrat. No step forward and 1 step back doesn't advance the cause, but it lets the fools and cranks get a bitter thrill from spite.

Don't be so sure of that. You have no idea how fed up Californians are with representatives who DON'T represent them. Gilchrist is a good guy who will put California's interests first.

Now notoriety is a pre-requisite for a good politician?

Quite a few years ago, not many people gave a former `B' movie actor (& host of `Death Valley Days') much hope of beating CA governor Pat Brown.

I'm pretty sure he'd raise hell over our unfenced southern border, which is a lot more than any of our other elected officials (besides Tancredo) is doing.

I like him, and I think author Matt Labash liked him, but judge for yourself.

Just wondering, is the name Glenn Spencer well-known in border security circles? He started something called the American Border Patrol. I know of him because he's the son of a great American composer: Glenn Spencer, brother of Sons of the Pioneers founding member Tim Spencer. Sorry if this is too far off from your topic.

"Now notoriety is a pre-requisite for a good politician?"

If I were given a choice between a Democrat, a Professional Politician and and Independent like Jim Gilchrist, I would take Gilchrist every time. As for "notoriety being a prerequisite", ask Arnold, or President Reagan or McCain or any of the others that used their fame or notoriety to get elected.

This kind of attitude guarantees the status quo and, quite frankly, lacks guts. If the Republicans ignore this issue and end up losing an election they otherwise would have won, then they just might be forced to get their act together for the next election, whereas if we keep re-electing ineffectual or incompetent candidates because we are afraid to support someone who is not from the same mold as all other politicians who have failed us, then both parties can just keep pissing on us, because they know we'll just sit there and take it.

So you don't even consider the individual that is a democrat or politician?

I guess out west, notoriety is a pre-requisite.

Question please, if I may..it says the "top vote getter from each party gets on the run-off ballot"...does that mean plus the top independent, and the top vote getter from every small crackpot party.. ?

""Don't be so sure of that. You have no idea how fed up Californians are with representatives who DON'T represent them. Gilchrist is a good guy who will put California's interests first"".

I remember them saying the exact same thing during the historic recall of Gray Davis.

"The recall will fail, as it's being pushed by a small minority of right wing extremist".

Eight months later, Gray Davis was thrown out of the State Capital on his head.

So let's say hypothetically you have NINE in the race..3 Dems and 3 GOP , plus 2 independent, one Communist, one Socialist, one Lyndon LaRouche guy.. and one Green..Let's say that the 3 Dems and the 3 GOP get 20, 15, and 10 percent each.. each indie gets 2% and the 4 fringes get 1% each..SDo in the run off it's I dem, I GOP, and one indie..and each of the kooks gets on the run-off ballott also?
