I just spoke with SoldiersPrayingMom and Jim Robinson on the caravan about 100 miles out of Yuma. Jim reports the weather is about 108º outside but nice and cool inside his van. Jim reports they are making good time and are on schedule.
Several more vehicles have joined the caravan along the way and they have been well received at all stops. Protesters are always there being obnoxious.
After a good conversation with Jim, he handed me back to SoldiersPrayingMom.
As many of you know, SoldiersPrayingMom (Ruth) is the mother of freeper jmpmst4u2 (Greg), a US soldier working with the Iraqi Wolf Brigade, who has been allowing us share in his "Greg's letters home" by allowing me to post them on FreeRepublic. Jmpmst4u2 has had some remarkable experiences in Iraq.
Yesterday, his mother was meeting up with the "You Don't Speak for Me, Cindy" caravan in Sacramento to ride down to Fresno to join Jim Parkinson for the rest of the tour, when her husband said "Hey, Ruth, that guy over there looks a lot like Greg!" He was right... because it WAS Greg, home for a 14 day leave!
Ruth was in a quandary. Here was her son home to spend some time with his family, and she was on her way to confront Cindy Sheehan in Crawford, TX. After hugs and lots of weeping, she told Greg of her quandary. He said "Mom, I want you to go. I need you to go. The guys over there in Iraq need you to go."
"It was," she said, "the hardest decision I have ever made."
When asked by Marine Moms' Deborah Johns "Why are you here... your son is home for a visit." Ruth replied "I have my orders from my sergeant... I have to go!"
Greg was the man quoted in the AP article on the caravan who confronted the protesters in Sacramento, telling them "You are ruining the morale over there!" (Incidentally, his Mom and Jim did not know about the article... I got to tell them.;^)> )
Ruth reported that she and Deborah Johns were interviewed by this morning in Los Angeles.

3 cheers for the Mods.
You got that right.
"They didn't all die so the Iraqis could debate about putting Christmas in their "constitution".
They died so the Iraqis could even debate what they want in their constitution and then vote on it as free men and women!
Wow - what a guy! How he must love his fellow troops. God bless them all.
I have the same allergies here in South Carolina. I also have goose bumps. What a fabulous family!
Thank you Greg for your Service and thank you Ruth for raising such a fine man.
Hey, hey, look this way: the Caravan left Yuma approx. 2-1/2 hrs. ago...
Thanks for the ping!
Gosh, it feels good to be Freeper!
Thanks for the update.
AMEN! (Something to agree on at last! ;>))
I'm also very good with typing, etc. I could do some work to help also, ie:-scripts. ;-)
I met SoldiersPrayingMom last night at KABC, where the interview with Al Rantel took place. The Caravan had been to a blur of media stops along the way, but this one seems to have left an impression on SPM. She's a sweet lady, a great American, as well as Marine mom Deborah Johns.
I told them I'd been following the Caravan planning thread and it looked like folks in Texas were getting the BBQ ready for them...!
Ditto for me; if there's a market for this, I volunteer also.
That brought tears to my eyes. Our military needs to know they are supported at home. Thank you for posting this. Can't wait...hodar & I will be in Crawford on Sat.
:-)
YESSSS!!!!!!
Doesn't it though????
You go girl! Give 'em what Americans stand for -- freedom for all!
I'll get back to you after our whirlwind trip. :)
Check your freepmail
That's SO yesterday.
I already did. It's now YOUR turn. :)
Awesome!!! Give them our undying love and hugs!!
