I just spoke with SoldiersPrayingMom and Jim Robinson on the caravan about 100 miles out of Yuma. Jim reports the weather is about 108º outside but nice and cool inside his van. Jim reports they are making good time and are on schedule.
Several more vehicles have joined the caravan along the way and they have been well received at all stops. Protesters are always there being obnoxious.
After a good conversation with Jim, he handed me back to SoldiersPrayingMom.
As many of you know, SoldiersPrayingMom (Ruth) is the mother of freeper jmpmst4u2 (Greg), a US soldier working with the Iraqi Wolf Brigade, who has been allowing us share in his "Greg's letters home" by allowing me to post them on FreeRepublic. Jmpmst4u2 has had some remarkable experiences in Iraq.
Yesterday, his mother was meeting up with the "You Don't Speak for Me, Cindy" caravan in Sacramento to ride down to Fresno to join Jim Parkinson for the rest of the tour, when her husband said "Hey, Ruth, that guy over there looks a lot like Greg!" He was right... because it WAS Greg, home for a 14 day leave!
Ruth was in a quandary. Here was her son home to spend some time with his family, and she was on her way to confront Cindy Sheehan in Crawford, TX. After hugs and lots of weeping, she told Greg of her quandary. He said "Mom, I want you to go. I need you to go. The guys over there in Iraq need you to go."
"It was," she said, "the hardest decision I have ever made."
When asked by Marine Moms' Deborah Johns "Why are you here... your son is home for a visit." Ruth replied "I have my orders from my sergeant... I have to go!"
Greg was the man quoted in the AP article on the caravan who confronted the protesters in Sacramento, telling them "You are ruining the morale over there!" (Incidentally, his Mom and Jim did not know about the article... I got to tell them.;^)> )
Ruth reported that she and Deborah Johns were interviewed by this morning in Los Angeles.
Great report, thanks! I met with them in L.A. but could not join up though I was invited... :-) Had to wave them on as they drove off into the sunset... true story.
Didn't you hear about the 36 house-keepers, the 18 cooks, the 17 gardeners and yard men in tank tops, and that one tanned pool boy?
I know...listening. :D
the Media Revolution of which FR, Rush, and a few others are most visible has truly changed the country .. and, need I say, for the better? (with a long way to go, what with 40 years of D domination, RINOs, etc). I also think that absent FR we might not have had a President Bush, either ... the protest at "Cheney's House" was maybe the most effective out-of-court weapon in the GOP arsenal (and I think gave the Supremes the courage they needed to make the right decision in Bush v. Gore).
Okay, you win! Good one.
The How About poster is being specially prepared for Crawford and will be ready tomorrow. I think the troops will have some good laughs over it being there! The retro sarcasm just kills me! LOL!
Then if you do come, wear light colored clothing. Including a wide brimed hat (or if you must a "baseball" cap" and a long sleeved shirt.
I went out and bought another "Cowboy" hat last night just for the occasion. My arms are pretty tanned, so I probably don't need the long sleeves, but I'll try to inventory my available light long sleeved shirts anyway and decide Saturday morning. Same with my boots, I might wear 'em and I might wimp out and wear my Reebocks. I wouldn't worry *too* much about the possibility of snakes. :) It's public park and football field. The snakes will be be scared witless and will likely stay out in the brush where they can hide. It'll be the numbers on our side that will scare 'em. As far as the folks on the other side, well you've seen 'em. :)
I saw Hannity and Colmes. They had Miltary Families Speak Out and CNS. MFSO said there were no black caskets or Maimed for a Lie signs in front of Water Reed Hospital. Liaring Pigs. She was protesting for Veteran's Benefits and she was not aware what was going on. Make you sick!
Keep your cameras ready!
Hi, Ladtx
It would be great if you could meet the caravan in Waco.
I wish I could be there. I am anxiously waiting word from Crawford.
Go Caravan .... Go Freepers ..... Go GWB
Darn, I wish I could have tagged along for more than 25 miles.
Yes. THANK G-D for the new media!!!! FR is making a crucial difference.
Well, two can do that.
If anyone has a servicemember in their family in Iraq, consider this as a huge placard:
Go get 'em Freepers. Eagles up
Your right bmcyle we are at the frontlines.
The pen is mightier than the sword. Blogs away!
It is time for America to wake up to the fact that the world socialist are at the door.
That's my constant prayer, Doug. It was hard enough to live through once, but twice...
