News from Jim Robinsons van in the You Don't Speak For Me Tour
Phone call from SoldiersPrayingMom and Jim Robinson 100 miles from Yuma | 8/24/2005 - 4:00PM PDT | Swordmaker

Posted on 08/24/2005 5:28:57 PM PDT by Swordmaker

I just spoke with SoldiersPrayingMom and Jim Robinson on the caravan about 100 miles out of Yuma. Jim reports the weather is about 108º outside but nice and cool inside his van. Jim reports they are making good time and are on schedule.

Several more vehicles have joined the caravan along the way and they have been well received at all stops. Protesters are always there being obnoxious.

After a good conversation with Jim, he handed me back to SoldiersPrayingMom.

As many of you know, SoldiersPrayingMom (Ruth) is the mother of freeper jmpmst4u2 (Greg), a US soldier working with the Iraqi Wolf Brigade, who has been allowing us share in his "Greg's letters home" by allowing me to post them on FreeRepublic. Jmpmst4u2 has had some remarkable experiences in Iraq.

Yesterday, his mother was meeting up with the "You Don't Speak for Me, Cindy" caravan in Sacramento to ride down to Fresno to join Jim Parkinson for the rest of the tour, when her husband said "Hey, Ruth, that guy over there looks a lot like Greg!" He was right... because it WAS Greg, home for a 14 day leave!

Ruth was in a quandary. Here was her son home to spend some time with his family, and she was on her way to confront Cindy Sheehan in Crawford, TX. After hugs and lots of weeping, she told Greg of her quandary. He said "Mom, I want you to go. I need you to go. The guys over there in Iraq need you to go."

"It was," she said, "the hardest decision I have ever made."

When asked by Marine Moms' Deborah Johns "Why are you here... your son is home for a visit." Ruth replied "I have my orders from my sergeant... I have to go!"

Greg was the man quoted in the AP article on the caravan who confronted the protesters in Sacramento, telling them "You are ruining the morale over there!" (Incidentally, his Mom and Jim did not know about the article... I got to tell them.;^)> )

Ruth reported that she and Deborah Johns were interviewed by this morning in Los Angeles.

My heart is with all of these families and the rest of the caravan. God be with them all and God speed. You know this is just the kind of American Spirit and determination that has kept us free and it is sooooo uplifting to see Americans coming together in the name of freedom and our great country.

I wish each and every one of you all the best and stay your ground. Stand tall for the rest of us who can't be there with you. The group is snowballing and it is so wonderful to see and hear about the stories along the way.

God bless the mothers of the solider who was home on leave and the one who had orders from her sergeant. They are true mothers...sacrificing like their sons on behalf of their country.

I am so proud of all of them. God bless America and those who love her. UNITED WE STAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe the sleeping giant has awakened once again!!

Tears are fallin' on my keyboard. Thank you for showing me those links, Swordmaker. Words fail me right now, but Lordy, Lordy, what a testimonial to the bravery of our military men & women. For every "Greg" there are thousands more, and Greg is just one of the most awesome young men I've ever "met"! If he ever decides to write a book, I'll stand in line to get a copy. :)

God Bless you all.

I will continue to pray for your safe passage to Texas. I wish I could be there with y'all, so I could shake the hands of some of the folks on her who have taken this task upon them. It is very touching, and the challenges are great.

Best of luck to everyone, again. If you're 100 miles out, you've about 200 miles due South of me. I'll tip my hat.

"They make me sick....."

In all honestly, I physically get nauseas when I think about what these people are doing.

Some can be forgiven; they are truly ignorant and naive and really believe they are helping the guys and gals over in Iraq.

However, their is a very large minority that know full well what this does to embolden our enemies.....for them....words cannot describe my loathing....

May God Bless and Protect our Troops as they bring the fight to the enemies of Freedom....

Is there going to be a place to meet the caravan prior to their arrival in Crawford? My wife and I are thinking about going but I would like to join up with the caravan before they get to Crawford, like some big parking lot in Waco. I am still recovering from the cancer surgery I had last week but this Sheehan debacle is getting out of hand. We had two sons over there and she damn sure doesn't speak for us either.

SCOUTS OUT!

I clicked on your MacArthur link. Very good. I have the same picture of him on my profile page with his quote from the same speech about Duty, Honor, and Country.
