I just spoke with SoldiersPrayingMom and Jim Robinson on the caravan about 100 miles out of Yuma. Jim reports the weather is about 108º outside but nice and cool inside his van. Jim reports they are making good time and are on schedule.
Several more vehicles have joined the caravan along the way and they have been well received at all stops. Protesters are always there being obnoxious.
After a good conversation with Jim, he handed me back to SoldiersPrayingMom.
As many of you know, SoldiersPrayingMom (Ruth) is the mother of freeper jmpmst4u2 (Greg), a US soldier working with the Iraqi Wolf Brigade, who has been allowing us share in his "Greg's letters home" by allowing me to post them on FreeRepublic. Jmpmst4u2 has had some remarkable experiences in Iraq.
Yesterday, his mother was meeting up with the "You Don't Speak for Me, Cindy" caravan in Sacramento to ride down to Fresno to join Jim Parkinson for the rest of the tour, when her husband said "Hey, Ruth, that guy over there looks a lot like Greg!" He was right... because it WAS Greg, home for a 14 day leave!
Ruth was in a quandary. Here was her son home to spend some time with his family, and she was on her way to confront Cindy Sheehan in Crawford, TX. After hugs and lots of weeping, she told Greg of her quandary. He said "Mom, I want you to go. I need you to go. The guys over there in Iraq need you to go."
"It was," she said, "the hardest decision I have ever made."
When asked by Marine Moms' Deborah Johns "Why are you here... your son is home for a visit." Ruth replied "I have my orders from my sergeant... I have to go!"
Greg was the man quoted in the AP article on the caravan who confronted the protesters in Sacramento, telling them "You are ruining the morale over there!" (Incidentally, his Mom and Jim did not know about the article... I got to tell them.;^)> )
Ruth reported that she and Deborah Johns were interviewed by this morning in Los Angeles.
Great report, thank you kindly. Please keep us posted.
Bump!
WTG everybody!!!!
Be safe and God bless y'all.
Wow, incredible..thanks for passing this along. A son fighting the war in Iraq, and his Mom fighting the war at home, both making huge sacrafices.. if this doesn't pull a tear out of your eye nothing will. God bless them both, all our troops and those fighting the good fight at home.
Thanks for the ping!
Protesters are always there being obnoxious.
Well of course they are. It's one good way to tell that they are protesters, and not just a bunch of slacked jawed mouthbreathers who happen to find themselves in the same spot.
The US military finally hunts down and kills Osama Bin Laden. Osama is lifted to the pearly gates.
There, he is greeted by George Washington. "How dare you attack the nation I helped conceive!" yells Washington, slapping Osama in the face.
Patrick Henry comes up from behind. "You wanted to end the Americans' liberty, so they gave you death!" Henry punches Osama on the nose.
James Madison comes up next, and says "This is why I allowed the Federal government to provide for the common defense!" He drops a large weight on Osama's knee.
Osama is subject to similar beatings from John Randolph of Roanoke, James Monroe, and 65 other American patriots.
As he writhes on the ground, Thomas Jefferson picks him up to hurl him back toward the gate where he is to be judged. As Osama awaits his journey to his final very hot destination, he screams "this is not what I was promised!"
An angel replies "I told you if you died attacking America there would be 72 Virginians waiting for you in Heaven. What the heck did you think I said?"
It's an oldie...but a goodie.
I don't have allergies. Must be tears. . .
Amen!
WOW!! Thanks for the update. Greg must really make his mother proud....being home and encouraging her to go and continue the fight here at home. Welcome Home Greg for your leave, I know you are proud of your Mother, doing what must be done here. We are also proud of you for your service to this great nation, doing what must be done over there.
God Speed to all of you...sure wish I could join you in your trek to Texas. But we will be praying for a safe journey for all of you there and back.
yes....we should all get together and help spring for an airline ticket home For Greg's Mother, so she can spend a little time with her Hero before he has to go back. Count me in ....cant do much, but would be willing to kick in a little towards it.
Eagles Away....
Prayers going UP...
ta-ping.
Only in a free country do you send your warriors off to fight for your freedom and safety, and the anti war communists say and do the most destructive things to undermine the morale of those warriors, at the same time we expect them to fight.
They make me sick.
I'd love to see a hundred Marine Moms just commence to kickin butt at Crawford. See them commies haulin butt across the field. Oh yeah. Sell me the video and postcard.
Good news! BTTT

Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters
Mostly in our dreams...
My heart is with all of these families and the rest of the caravan. God be with them all and God speed. You know this is just the kind of American Spirit and determination that has kept us free and it is sooooo uplifting to see Americans coming together in the name of freedom and our great country.
I wish each and every one of you all the best and stay your ground. Stand tall for the rest of us who can't be there with you. The group is snowballing and it is so wonderful to see and hear about the stories along the way.
God bless the mothers of the solider who was home on leave and the one who had orders from her sergeant. They are true mothers...sacrificing like their sons on behalf of their country.
I am so proud of all of them. God bless America and those who love her. UNITED WE STAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe the sleeping giant has awakened once again!!
