A review of medical evidence has found that fetuses likely don't feel pain until the final months of pregnancy, a powerful challenge to abortion opponents who hope that discussions about fetal pain will make women think twice about ending pregnancies.
Critics angrily disputed the findings and claimed the report is biased.
"They have literally stuck their hands into a hornet's nest," said Dr. Kanwaljeet Anand, a fetal pain (search) researcher at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, who believes fetuses as young as 20 weeks old feel pain. "This is going to inflame a lot of scientists who are very, very concerned and are far more knowledgeable in this area than the authors appear to be. This is not the last word -- definitely not."

Who cares? Are we allowed to kill people so long as we do it painlessly?
We are expected to believe that a woman who would kill their unborn child because it is inconvenient, would change her mind if she thought the child would experience pain before death?
"Yea, I was going to kill my baby, but when I found out it might hurt him I changed my mind"
This report is a classic example of setting up a straw-man argument to help justify an unjustifiable position.
I don't know whether they are right or not. In order to feel pain you have to reach a certain level of brain development as well as nerve development, and it is clear that at some point the fetus does not yet have that development, while at birth it does. So there must be some time during gestation that a baby becomes aware of pain, just as there is a point in time where the heart starts beating.
did they ask one???
If the "researchers" stick to that story then a the fetus in a partial birth abortion, where the fetus is past the 28 week window, can feel the pain of the scissors into the back of its brain.
What a coincidence. I did a study too. Discovered that liberals don't feel pain.
Smack 'em upside the head with reality a million times, and they don't feel a thing...it's just like you never did it...
That is one of the best crafted sentences I have seen here, for a while.
I am married to a woman who prays for "these people." I cannot. Thank God, she also prays for me.
This would be good news, if true. For the babies who are aborted, I mean.
Amazing how this study arrives at the same time.
Pro-aborts also abhor required ultrasound for the same reason: it lets a woman see what she's really disposing of (and it ain't just a clump o' cells).
This is absurd.
Time for another sequel to "Silent Scream".
First: Decide what conclusions you (the liberal researcher) wants.
Then, arrange to "review" the studies that give you the results you want.
BINGO!
This is enough to make me vomit. The 5th month or later.... the only way you abort a baby at that gestation is to deliver it. And I can assure anyone who wonders, yes, "it" is human and quite fully formed at that age.
So, killing someone like Christopher Reeves would be okay? After all, he was paralyzed and couldn't feel pain.
Bullshite,
Sometimes I wonder how conservative Fox News really is when it comes to the issue of child murder. They publish this without doing more research on the topic. And remember when they wouldn't let Matt Drudge cover the story of Samuel Armas?
These baby killers are trying to justify sucking out the brains of a baby in a late term abortion. Oh, well it doesn't even feel its brains being sucked out of its skull.
Agreed. But if we can stop third trimester abortions based on the pain issue, then why not?
Agreed. But if we can stop third trimester abortions based on the pain AGRUMENT, then why not?
I just finished watching all five. Thanks for posting that.
