A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....08-22-05....Military Monday

A Few of FR's Finest
....Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I could no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I had been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that didn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why we've created a place for just that. This is a friendly room in JimRob's house where FReeper FRiends can gather every day and just say hello if that's all they want to do.
There's more of course. We sometimes feature different FReepers, with a little background information on who they are and what makes them who they are, along with a few photos you might not have seen on other threads; sometimes others write an essay for us to post as the feature for the day; sometimes our presentation is a human interest story found elsewhere that you might not have read; sometimes special holiday threads; but whatever the topic of the day, it is always with FR's Finest in mind and that is YOU!
If you would like to be featured, or would like to see someone else featured, please send me a private FR mail.
Every Monday we will post the photos of FR's Military Personnel that I have collected and put into groups; these will be available to view through a link the remainder of the week - every day just a click away. :)   If you would like to add a photo of yourself or a loved one in the military, past or present, please let me know; I will hold it until I have enough for a new group.
Thank you, and please have fun with us...every day! ~ Billie

Spiritual Reupholstering

Read:
Ephesians 4:17-24

Put on the new man which was created according to God. —Ephesians 4:24

Bible In One Year: 1 Chronicles 4-6

cover When we moved into our home 5 years ago, we discovered that the former owner had left us six dining room chairs. They were covered with fabric of beautiful African art—tasteful zebra stripes. We appreciated the unexpected gifts and used them frequently when entertaining guests.

When we recently moved again, those chairs needed a makeover to match our new decor. So I called an upholsterer and asked, "Shouldn't we just put the new material over the existing fabric?" He responded, "No, you'll ruin the shape of the chair if you just put new material over the old."

The work of God in our lives is similar. He's not interested in merely changing our spiritual appearance. Instead, He intends to replace our character with what is called "the new man," made in the image of Christ (Ephesians 4:24). The flesh has a tendency to perform religious activity, but this is not the work of the Holy Spirit. He will completely transform us on the inside.

But the process is a partnership (Philippians 2:12-13). As we daily lay aside our old behaviors and replace them with godly ones, the God of grace works in us through the power of the Holy Spirit.

God wants to reupholster us. —Dennis Fisher

Dear Lord, You've given new life to me—
A great and full salvation;
And may the life that others see
Display the transformation. —Hess

When you receive Christ, God's work in you has just begun.

Why Would Anyone Want To Be Holy?

House is coming along well, drywallers should be done today.
Some roofing left to do on the front and back porches.
Handrails, and railings around all 3 decks.

Today I will finish the basement stairs and hopefully get a big jump on the back deck stairs.
They are going to be 3 sides stairs with handrails coming to a concrete pad.

I have taken pics but untill I get my computer back I can't access my website. All the software I need is in it. I am still on the old box.

We will.

With all the budget cuts the BOE is complaining that they don't have the manpower to deliver voting machines so, we volunteered 3 trucks and the manpower to do it.
Once we were there they had a change of mind, they are now saying that they don't have the people to program all the machines that are out there.
Well Mr BOE, which is it?

If they are gonna raise a stink about something they need to stick to the story.
In the mean time the county legislature is spending money on staff and leaving them (BOE) high and dry. So now we will take this to the county executive and the legislature.

They are so screwed up it is no longer funny and they are a severe detrement to the success of Erie County. I can't beleive we have not made national news yet. The only thing that has been covered nationally is the free toilet paper county hall got from Charmin becausee they couldn't buy it.

Scheesh..

Thanks, Mayor, for the daily lesson in God's Word. When we "put on the new man" we are also given the "full armour of God..the breastplate of righteousness,...the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit--which is the Word of God!

Thanks also for the house project report. Wow--you have done so much in so little time. It's like you are totally building a house around the old house! Whew! It is going to be awesome when it is done--hope the owner is getting excited about what all is being done!
