Salt Lake City's Mayor Rocky Anderson used e-mail this week to call for "the biggest demonstration this state has ever seen," when President Bush appears before a national veterans convention Monday. Anderson says Bush policies are disastrous for the country and that to stay quiet during the president's visit would be send a message of apathy.
The mayor's e-mail called for a collaboration of health care advocates, seniors, gay and lesbian advocates, anti-Patriot advocates, civil libertarians and anti-war folks to protest outside the convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mike Parkin, senior vice commander of the V-F-W's Atomic Post 4355 in Salt Lake says the move makes Anderson look unpatriotic.
The Vietnam vet, who says he voted for Anderson, but won't again, says the protest will offend veterans and embolden enemies of the U.S.
Was just on google doing some research and most counties and cities have regulations on computer use, haven't found
any specifics on Salt Lake City as yet.
SLC - Pornography capital of the USA. real polluted air also - pitiful.
Geez, is Salt Lake City turning into San Francisco?
"Salt Lake outed: It's rated a top gay-friendly travel destination"

OK, now you know why this guy is screaming DOWN WITH BUSH. case closed.
keel haul him over the salt flats.
I live near Pocatello, ID about 150 miles north of SLC. There are lots of Mormons here too but guess what? They are the least politically active group I have ever encountered and I don't understand that one bit!
Idaho is even more Republican than Utah but a demoncrat mayor and city council run Poky and they are mostly all Mormon. Worse yet, they behave like typical demoncrats!
The Church elders better tell the faithful to get off their hineys and do some serious politicking or they are going to find themselves overrun by the types of people nobody in their right mind wants to live around.
Just more proof that Rocky is a moron (not that it was needed however)
Don't forget that Senator Harry Reed is Mormon as well. The truth is we have our share of loons as well.
LOL! Thanks for the info!
I lived in Riverdale, Utah for about 9 and half years. Rocky Anderson was voted in as Mayor of SLC after Coradinni was there. She too was also a Democrat.
Utah is a Amazing place.. SLC votes in liberals for mayor.. there is a large "peacnik" crowd who roams the streets of Salt Lake City. But the state is by large.. a Republican bastion everywhere else.
Anderson did not win any points when he made that announcement.. believe me!
Can't say for sure, but I'd be willing to bet this guy won't be re-elected.
I see like most other lying, deceitful liberals, Rocky's party affiliation is proudly displayed on his website...
NOT
These people just do not know when to stop, sit back and watch. Poll numbers slip some people start to move against the war and yet these people go over the top and bring the numbers back again. I am glad they are so stupid, but you have to wonder.
What % Mormon is Salt Lake proper?
HTH did they elect this moonbat?
Ross C. "Rocky" Anderson (born 1951) is the current mayor of Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born in Logan and received a bachelor's degree in science from the University of Utah and a law degree from George Washington University.
Anderson spent many years as a lawyer in Salt Lake City, specializing in civil litigation. He was president of the local ACLU chapter, and ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 1996, but received 55% of Salt Lake City's vote in that race. [1]
He took office as mayor of Salt Lake City in 2000 and was re-elected in 2003.
He has a strong environmental agenda; under his mayorship, the city has purchased wind power, has increased recycling, and is moving forward on light rail and commuter rail projects and converting its fleet of city vehicles to alternative fuels. He is an ardent opponent of tobacco use and has supported legislative measures limiting smoking.
Ironically, he has been viewed as one of the state's most outspoken supporters of alcohol use. He opposes English-only legislation, supports GLBT rights, has launched living wage initiatives, a notable agenda in the state that in the 2004 presidential election gave George W. Bush his greatest percentage of the vote of any state in the Union. [2]
Anderson recently gained praise and scorn when he called for "the biggest demonstration (Utah) has ever seen" to protest Bush's appearance at Veterans of Foreign Wars' national convention at the Salt Palace.

In short, he could have called all the misfits of the country.
Anderson headed up the Utah office of the ACLU before becoming mayor, so this is hardly surprising.
Does this mean he'll be up for re-election again next year? Fellow Freepers, I think you all know what to do.
