A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I received this in my email June 10th, the author is unknown. I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

Oh, yes! I remember that blue dress. Haven't worn it for a long time. Actually, Billie, you're my sistah, what's mine is yours - I will share my white dress (especially since your red one doesn't look half bad on me. LOL). I'd forgotten the blue one, but still like the white one better - thanks for letting me wear it for a couple of hours. LOL! And yes, you do look ravishing in red - blondes just do! :)

Thanks, Dolly - it *was* a fun day yesterday, and I'm glad that so many of us took a little extra time just to 'play' on the thread. I'm not around a lot on Fridays either (or Saturday, or Sunday!)
Hope the par-tay at Stan Hywitt last night was a good one. You be careful traipsing tru th' woods alone with Oliver at night though!

I grabbed that graphic. It needs to go on PrissyMissy's profile page. :)
Thanks, Billie.
Today I'm working on drumming up support for the "You Don't Speak for Me, Cindy" Carvan. It will be coming thru Fresno early Monday evening so we will meet them with flags, signs and snacks.
Wanna come?)

I'm glad you shared that with us, Rus. That is really a remarkable story, and how wonderful that your brother turned to prayer and faith to get him through that test.

Getting away from Billie's cooking has done wonders for my appetite. :-) Hey, if I can send Mr. B to wherever it is that you're eating now, then I won't *have* to cook anymore! :)
It's nice to know you still love me as much as ever, T Man. :)

very heavy thunderboomers here.. lots of rain . PTL. Tornadoes spotted in "next door community"..that is NOT GOOD but the rain is.
Busy here. Missed my choir appt. They just told me to come in before they close. I thought it was noon on Sat.. it is 11. 30 mile drive each way for naught. Did get to BJs & Sam's club for misc items. dropped off my chain saw & piece of antique furniture for a friend to repair.
Went to nieces birthday party today & took about 150 pix..& going to rest a bit before movie/dinner tonight. only a couple hours of shut eye last night.
We were supposed to see a newly opened but I decided I want to see Star Wars one more time on big screen before it leaves the theaters. It is in its last week at the second runs in the one theater that has those. NOT really too convenient - about 40 miles - but if you miss something or want to see something again, it is nice to have.
The Stan Hywet party was very nice.. good food, wine, people, music.. I left before it was over because of fatigue.
traipsing thru woods at night is really enjoyable. cool air and the wonderful night sounds of insects, animals, amphibians. last night was a bright full moon. wonderful visibility.
I may or many not have GIF construction capabilities in the several photo programs I have. So much to learn. If I lived near FResno I would have JKPhoto sign me up for his photo-shop class.

Wish I could. I also will be real anxious to see all the coverage the press gives them, too. Yeah, right!

I swear you can cram more stuff in a day than there are hours, Miss Dolly! If you ever sit down you may not be able to get up again; that must be why you keep going and going and going. :)
On top of everything else going on, are you working on *that* thread for Wednesday?

We are working to get the word out to FResno area media. It would be great if they gave us just half as much coverage as they are giving, Cindy.

Oops .... didn't answer your question. :)
I'm just getting started on PrissyMissy's page. There isn't much there yet. Just one picture and a pledge.
I have several poems that should be posted and I'm looking for a picture of her at one of the Support the Troops Rallies.

...adding to #272 above...
When I pulled into SpeediLube this am for the oil change, the vehicle in front of me proudly displayed a yellow "Support Our Troops" magnetic sign along with a "United States Navy" decal across the back window. Couldn't pass up this opportunity, and this young Naval Officer received a heartfelt "Thank You for serving our Country." Found out he's a Naval Reserve officer and served as XO on a Coastal Patrol Craft out of San Diego (Coronado) as well as serving in The Gulf. He will be deploying to WESTPAC in the near future.
Later, at PetSmart, we found out our instructor's daughter is in the Air Force serving in Turkey loading cargo aboard flights bound for the troops in Iraq and Afganistan. She seemed please to pass on our words of "Thanks for serving" to her daughter and son-in-law.
Turning over the controls to Mrsdd.
