(Angus Reid Global Scan) – State secretary Condoleezza Rice is the top presidential hopeful for Republican Party supporters in the Hawkeye State, according to a poll by Victory Enterprises. 30.3 per cent of respondents say they would vote for Rice in the state’s GOP caucuses.
Arizona senator John McCain is second with 16 per cent, followed by former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani with 15.3 per cent, and former House of Representatives speaker and Georgia congressman Newt Gingrich with 7.5 per cent.

I haven't really given much thought to 2008 candidates.
But Condi Rice would be interesting in that she would be the first African American and the first woman President.
I think she's tough enough for the foreign politics part of the job, don't know about her stand on domestic issues, so I'd have to hear more.
But Condi would beat Hillary, hands down!
It's fairly obvious that her time at the State Department has been slowly liberalizing her. I'm not sure if I trust her anymore.
I like her... but I don't want to see a Snowe or Collins/clone running the country. She needs conservative 'vetting' first.

I think she can beat the bwitch. Also like Santorum, and Tancredo and Allen and would consider "Jeb" but only if no one else were available.
John McCain wouldn't get my vote if he was the last guy on earth - never him or any of the other seven dwarves who stabbed Bush in the back. I'd rather have the bwitch in there. Better an enemy you know than than a Judas.
There are many flavors of conservatives. Too many are one issue oriented.

Nat. Security Advisor Rice would never have gone along with this Gaza plan, and when it comes to dealing with Europe, Saudi Arabia, etc., her words are slowly becoming more and more wishy-washy. Nowadays she talks about Hamas like they're a legit political organization. She reminds me too much of the UN now: '(North Korea, Iran, etc.), stop doing ______ or we'll send you a nasty letter.' She gave up being a security expert for being a diplomat.
She's in favor of abortion rights and she's pro affirmative action. She will never get my vote.
I 'hear' a lot of that on FR but I've never seen her comment fully on either issue. I'll make my decision when she does and IF she runs.

Rice, McCain, Guiliani, and Newt are the top four.
How far we've fallen in just 5 years. Obviously, the GOP has some serious work to do.
Tancredo doesn't stand a chance despite what his worshipers believe. One issue wonders and people who run their mouth like he does do not win national elections. Just look at Pat Buchanan.

If you want to separate the serious candidates from the vanity candidates look at their campaign staff. The top campaign professionals aren't going to sign on with a vanity candidate.
