Obscure poll... but hey... it's better than seeing McCain on top!

I haven't really given much thought to 2008 candidates.

But Condi Rice would be interesting in that she would be the first African American and the first woman President.

I think she's tough enough for the foreign politics part of the job, don't know about her stand on domestic issues, so I'd have to hear more.

But Condi would beat Hillary, hands down!

It's fairly obvious that her time at the State Department has been slowly liberalizing her. I'm not sure if I trust her anymore.

Likely Iowa Caucus goers also overwhelmingly picked Nussle for Governor. Here's the polling data, also done by Victory Enterprises (wondering if those polls were done in tandum?):

Statewide, Solid Name ID. Just 78 days since announcing his candidacy for governor, Jim Nussle stands with 86% statewide name identification among likely Republican primary voters. While Nussle has served Eastern Iowa in Congress for the past 15 years, he has a 17 point lead in name id over a former gubernatorial candidate who competed in the Republican primary just 3 years ago.
Name Identification (Likely Republican Primary Voters)
Congressman Jim Nussle 86%
Bob Vander Plaats 69%

Positive Favorability Among Republicans. Congressman Jim Nussle has been out on the road visiting all 99 counties and talking with thousands of Iowans. Central and Western Iowans are just getting to know Jim Nussle, but they’ve listened to his vision of Iowa – an Iowa with hard-working people and opportunity; an Iowa fulfilling its innovative and creative potential so it doesn’t take a second thought for each and every one of us to choose Iowa.

Statewide Favorability (Likely Republican Primary Voters)
Congressman Jim Nussle Bob Vander Plaats Difference
60% 35% +25

And Republican voters are responding to an experienced, innovative leader with bold ideas and a clear vision for a stronger Iowa.

Republicans Unite Around Nussle. Jim Nussle has 84% of Republican legislators endorsing his candidacy, 99 county chairs on board and over 2,000 volunteers signed up to help on the campaign trail. The Nussle campaign is moving forward with the intensity and organizational strength unheard of in an Iowa gubernatorial race.
Primary Match Up (Likely Republican Primary Voters)
Congressman Jim Nussle Bob Vander Plaats Difference
51% 22% +29

She's pro-Second Amendment and has my vote anyday.

I think she can beat the bwitch. Also like Santorum, and Tancredo and Allen and would consider "Jeb" but only if no one else were available.

John McCain wouldn't get my vote if he was the last guy on earth - never him or any of the other seven dwarves who stabbed Bush in the back. I'd rather have the bwitch in there. Better an enemy you know than than a Judas.

She's in favor of abortion rights and she's pro affirmative action. She will never get my vote.

Rice, McCain, Guiliani, and Newt are the top four.

How far we've fallen in just 5 years. Obviously, the GOP has some serious work to do.

McCain could see his stock rise because of his stance on Iraq (more troops) and he is a fairly conservative guy. True he seems to hate Bush and be for himself but my guess is he wouldn't hesitate to go after Iran or Syria and would continue the WOT aggressively. If he would make the borders an issue and the media doesn't destroy him for the Keating 5 scandal in order to elevate Hillary he may not be that bad of a candidate. My fear is that as soon as he wins the nomination the media reveals the Keating thing and begins to destroy him leaving Hillary the only option.

I'm not sure I want to see a nominee who hasn't either been a mayor of a large city, a governor, or run a successful business.
