Mexican Magnet

Illegal Immigration: The population of Mexico is growing fast — too fast for its sluggish economy to sop up all the new workers entering the labor force. Not surprisingly, many want to come to the U.S.

Of the 12 million people who have come to the U.S. illegally, most are from Mexico. Don't expect that number to shrink soon. New and alarming data gathered by the Pew Hispanic Center suggest it's likely to grow. A Pew poll of Mexican citizens found 46% would like to live in the U.S. — now. A fifth of them say they'd do so illegally.

With a work force of 45 million people, that means roughly 20 million or more Mexicans would come to the U.S. if they could. And why not? Their next-door neighbor is the world's richest nation by far, with a $12 trillion economy, low inflation and lots of low-wage jobs. Only a border stands in the way.

It's time for GWB to tell Vicente Fox to start solving Mexico's problems instead of dumping them on our back porch. And it's also time for Mexico to take off the American training wheels and start peddling through life on her own. Semper Fi, Kelly

One of the more interesting phenomenon to be observed in Mexico in recent years is their quite obvious efforts to make the place look like the US.

Whether it's police cars, uniforms, weapons or demeanor, or just street signs, storefronts, casual wear, building design, housing, curbs, gutters and pavement, the place is looking more and more like the US and less and less like Mexico.

Is this simply a result of "modernism" or are Mexicans gripped by a maniacal vision that makes them just another part of the US?

No doubt we have a powerful and attractive culture, but what nation, other than Canada, has gone so far to resemble us?

------
It was time for Bush to do this six years ago...but he didn't and he will not. Bush did not start the illegal Mexican invasion, but he, like Clinton, and the Congress, continue TO ENCOURAGE IT and force the U.S. citizen to fund these criminal parasites. Bush was given the Presidency, and a Congressional majority TO FIX THE PROBLEMS THIS COUNTRY, especially PROBLEMS OF LIBERALISM, and he failed us miserably on this and similar issues.

The citizens of America that care about America, mostly conservative, have done all they can to support what they thought was a conservative candidate with a conservative agenda serious about taking care of this country and ITS REAL CITIZENS. The return on their invested effort and votes has been a tragedy for America.

"They will trade freedom for security..."

not if folks like you and I have anything to do about it!

Notice that the 'Rat governor NM is supporting a stronger position on illegals...if only in words while my RINO governor in CA sits on his hands...

I don't know about that but where I live in Southern California, it is looking more and more like a Mexican third world country! And I wouldn't try to make a silk purse out of sow's ear if I were you, Mexico is awash with corrupt government employees "on the take."

This is a policy in which W has really failed those of us who love and support him especially in the war against Islamofascism. OTM's pour into our states; other than Mexicans! Terrorists from Central America's 'highway'. Our institutions are being over-run here in Ca. and other border states: education, health, welfare, and our public safety as shown my crime and those in our prisons(a huge % of those in there are illegals.)Two Dems have taken the issue away from the GOP:NM and AZ. Even Hil is blathering about this. Unless we close the borders, man the borders with either volunteers or national guard, and tell Fox that he cannot set our domestic and foreign policies, Mexifornia is a sure thing and our safety and culture will be changed for the worst forever!

Just a few days ago esteemed Republican Strategist and spinmeister, Mathew Dowd, had an Op Ed in the New York Times called The Mexican Evolution telling us not to worry because the demographic situation in Mexico was such that illegal immigration had already peaked and that there was really no reason to do anything about it because the problem would soon cure itself.

Apparently he was wrong. Obviously he could not have availed himself of the survey referenced in this article. But he could have availed himself of the US Government's census data which predicts that by 2050 Mexico's population is going to expand by 50% from 100 million to 150 million.

Time to start building a wall and throwing employers in prison.

GWB=V. Fox

V. Fox=GWB

They are the same person.

That's why they like each other so much.

The more you really study who they really are the more you'll see.

I've seen Mexico and I've seen pret'near 100% of San Diego County and most of Los Angeles County.

They look remarkably Americanized ~ and, of course, they should. However, I've also seen TJ City at different times over the last 5 decades and the place looks positively American these days. Way back when it looked Mexican.
