One of the more interesting phenomenon to be observed in Mexico in recent years is their quite obvious efforts to make the place look like the US.

Whether it's police cars, uniforms, weapons or demeanor, or just street signs, storefronts, casual wear, building design, housing, curbs, gutters and pavement, the place is looking more and more like the US and less and less like Mexico.

Is this simply a result of "modernism" or are Mexicans gripped by a maniacal vision that makes them just another part of the US?

No doubt we have a powerful and attractive culture, but what nation, other than Canada, has gone so far to resemble us?

I don't know about that but where I live in Southern California, it is looking more and more like a Mexican third world country! And I wouldn't try to make a silk purse out of sow's ear if I were you, Mexico is awash with corrupt government employees "on the take."

I'd post a link that explains it but you wouldn't read it.
