Clinton: I Would Have Attacked Bin Laden
NewsMax ^ | 8/15/05 | NewsMax

Ex-president Bill Clinton now says he would have taken out Osama bin Laden before the 9/11 attacks – if only the FBI and CIA had been able to prove the al-Qaida mastermind was behind the attack on the U.S.S. Cole.

"I desperately wish that I had been president when the FBI and CIA finally confirmed, officially, that bin Laden was responsible for the attack on the U.S.S. Cole," Clinton tells New York magazine this week. "Then we could have launched an attack on Afghanistan early."

"I don’t know if it would have prevented 9/11," he added. "But it certainly would have complicated it.”

Despite his failure to launch such an attack, Clinton said he saw the danger posed by bin Laden much more clearly than did President Bush.

"I always thought that bin Laden was a bigger threat than the Bush administration did," he told New York magazine.

Al Qaeda absent from final Clinton report

By James G. Lakely
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

The final policy paper on national security that President Clinton submitted to Congress — 45,000 words long — makes no mention of al Qaeda and refers to Osama bin Laden by name just four times.
The scarce references to bin Laden and his terror network undercut claims by former White House terrorism analyst Richard A. Clarke that the Clinton administration considered al Qaeda an "urgent" threat, while President Bush's national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, "ignored" it.
The Clinton document, titled "A National Security Strategy for a Global Age," is dated December 2000 and is the final official assessment of national security policy and strategy by the Clinton team. The document is publicly available, though no U.S. media outlets have examined it in the context of Mr. Clarke's testimony and new book.

Less than a month after the Cole disaster, CIA analysts had concluded bin Laden was behind it (though the FBI was still clueless).

AND he even FAILED at lying

Clinton did nothing after the bombing of our embassies in East Africa. In fact, the bombing in Nairobi killed or wounded more than 5000 people, which equals or surpasses the total number of casualties for 9/11. It was confirmed not long after the bombing that AQ was responsible. Clinton did nothing ecept dispatch the FBI to the crime scene.

"He kinda points the finger at himself....IMHO!"

Ironically, it's the same finger he pointed at us.

Your point is absolutely correct. Funny that he didn't realize it when he said it. Of course he will count on OldMedia to amend his statements for posterity.

After the planes hit the towers, it all came racing back in one phone call from a staff aide working for the Bush National Security Council. Diligently - in my view – they were digging under every rock they could find for information about al-Qaida. They had reached out to me because, I thought, they wanted help getting the bin-Laden files that had several times been offered to but not accepted by the previous administration.

The aide had no idea what I was talking about when I said, "Finally, someone cares. So, do you want the bin-Laden files?" My name had only surfaced because of the Treasury Department's attempt to sanction me for dealing with the Sudanese government, not because of what those dealings had been about.

Incredibly, in my view, the information from the Clinton White House about the Sudanese offers of information about al-Qaida had not been passed along to the incoming Bush administration.

I told my story yet again to the Bush aide, who thanked me for my time and input. This time, however, the government acted - and swiftly.

I would have attacked Bin Laden IF
-He was hogging all the dope
-He was in Juanita's pants when I got there
-He got in front of the camera and blocked my face

Dear Bill,

You would have had to have a set of cajones to actually do anything constructive......

You showed America that your cajones were busy doing an intern instead of doing your job.

Sit down, shut up and let the grownups go to work

Respectfully (NOT)

He is fooling nobody. He had 8 years to do something and he did very little. A couple of missile attacks, thats it.

But, history has proven that Clinton was a national security disaster and a reckless womanizer.

Hey Howlin, we knew that BEFORE it was history! :-)

Great post btw.

This infuriates me! And I kept ALL those bookmarks just for a time like this. I hate the way he can make me feel.

It is interesting, though, isn't it, that the ONLY attack he mentions is the U.S.S. Cole, the last one during his eight years -- and one he can try to pawn off on Bush.

Let's take a pledge. Seven days after internment. Mmmm'kay?

Please forgive me for acting like the spell check police, the Lord knows I'm not perfect, but this was so close to a Freudian slip I had to point it out. Perhaps you even purposely intended it.

Either Clinton was "intern"-ed over seven years ago or he needs internment in prison now, but if you intend to dance on his grave, I suggest you wait for his interment.

in·ter·ment Pronunciation Key (n-tûrmnt)

n.

The act or ritual of interring or burying.

"I desperately wish that I had been president when the FBI and CIA finally confirmed, officially, that bin Laden was responsible for the attack on the U.S.S. Cole," Clinton tells New York magazine this week.

SAY WHAT!!!!

Who thwarted the FBI investigation? Who is Barbara K. Bodine? Ans: The Clinton's US Ambassador to Yemen.

Who is John O'Neill? Ans: The FBI leader of a team of 200 FBI investigators sent to Yemen to investigate the USS Cole bombing.

All together. Who thwarted the investigation of the USS Cole bombing. Ans: Barbara K. Bodine Clinton's US Ambassador to Yemen. She did not like O'Neill. She and the Clinton State Department were afraid that O'Neill would offen-en-en-end the Yemenis.

O'Neill finally quit the FBI fed-up and took the head of security at the WTC. He was killed on 9/11/01.

Under the Two Parties are One department (they just fight over whose turn it is to drive):

This old Fox story says, "Reports are circulating that President Bush intends to divide a post-Saddam Iraq into three sectors: north, south and central. Two retired U.S. generals would separately administer the north and south while the central sector, including Baghdad, would be overseen by a woman: Barbara Bodine, a former ambassador to Yemen."
