Leave my family alone by Cindy Sheehan
Liberal blog | Aug 15, 2005 | Cindy Sheehan

Posted on 08/15/2005 5:54:58 AM PDT by summer

I apparently am the sacrificial lamb of the peace movement. I don't care about myself. Putting myself in the forefront and daring to challenge the president on his lies left myself open to the attacks. Which are, of course, half truths and distortions.

CindySheehan's diary :: ::

When they start sliming my home life and my family, that's where I draw the line. Yes, my husband has filed for divorce and yes he filed before I left for the VFP Convention and this trip to Crawford and yes IT IS BETWEEN MY HUSBAND AND I.

Having Casey murdered in Iraq by George Bush's reckless policies has been hard enough on my family, but me setting off on my holy war to bring the troops home, my constant absences, and all of the media attention has put additional stresses on my family.

I chose my path after Casey died. The rest of the family has chosen theirs. We all still love each other and support each other in anything that we do. We didn't want Casey to join the Army, but once he made that decision, we supported him and even encouraged him through boot camp.

We are a normal American family who have had good times, bad times, and terrible times. We hope the good times will come back. We hope that we will be able to laugh with abandon together like we used to one day. We hope that the troops come home and no other families have to go through what we are going through.

It isn't about politics for us. No one asked Casey what political affiliation he was before they sent him off to die in Iraq and no one asked us who we voted for in 2000 before we were handed a folded flag from Casey's flag-draped coffin.

I am not perfect and I never even claimed to be perfect. My family isn't perfect, but we are pretty special...especially the children. We all miss Casey so much and it is George Bush and his neocon cabal who is at fault. The people who are dragging my family through the mud need to grow up and look at themselves. The Christ said: "He who is without sin, cast the first stone."

If everyone followed Jesus's advice, the world would be a much better place.

I don't care about myself. God, what a melodramatic attention-seeker!!

My thoughts exactly. Hey Cindy! GET OVER YOURSELF!

She's having delusions of grandeur. I wouldn't be surprised if she privately compared herself to Jesus Christ. The "sacrificial lamb" of the peace movement? More like the cheap whore of the moment. She'll be discarded as soon as her leftist pimps have no more use for her, and then she'll be nothing but washed-up, with no eldest son, no family, and no feigned affection from the people she has allowed to use her.

Not to be mean...you don't know the whole story with her; If you did, you wouldn't feel sorry for her. In fact, you might even be glad she's not home because she is seriously out of control. Did you know that she is on MEMRI (Middle East Media Research) and Al-Jazeera? What do you think mothers with their sons still over there think? What do you think this does to the esteem of the troops. The bottom line is: He met with her before, she said he was compassionate and her and hubby were able to live again after that meeting. A year later, she changes her story completely and receives money from MoveOn, CodePink and the Fenton Group (her PR firm for 11 months), who is under George Soros.

Don't get me wrong, grief is grief and everyone handles it their own way. Some families never met with the president.
Maybe if she didn't have all the libs and cameras with her she could meet with him.

This woman needs serious help, all I can do is pray for her. She's being used...that's what I got mad about, but she has to know it.

I think this woman is a disgusting attention seeker who is using her dead son's coffin as a bully pulpit. I'll reserve my sorrow for the troops who have died and the families that haven't gone over to the terrorist's side.

You know, when you look at this woman, you have to wonder if she was not screened by pr companies for the apparent pathetic look she has--so as to appear appealing to tv viewers. There is something particularly coordinated about the look, the timing and the media frenzy.

Excellent points!

The selfish nature of her attention-whoring spreads disrepute to soldiers who have gone before, and those still active. How many families have found solace in knowing that there fallen sons and daughters fought for a righteous cause? What comfort does she strip from them in this circumstance?

Another whiny lib who wants to dish it out but can't take it herself.

I would add only these two adjectives -- angry, self-hating

The Christ said: "He who is without sin, cast the first stone." If everyone followed Jesus's advice, the world would be a much better place. That's an odd way to say it..THE Christ? And I don't think Jesus would be standing in front of the Presidents home protesting..Remember He said for us to render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's. So therefore He demands we respect those who are in authority over us.

If everyone followed Jesus'advice we wouldn't have Islamic extremists that we needed to stop. Seriously, why can't people just accept human nature as it is? Why are there so many people who live in this fantasy world, pretending that they can change the world by ignoring reality and defending the most tyrannical people?

IT IS BETWEEN MY HUSBAND AND I.

No, Cindy, you whiny, liberal, pretentious moron--what you are trying to say, and would say, if you had paid attention in fifth grade, is:

IT IS BETWEEN MY HUSBAND AND ME.

You see, "between" is a preposition, and the correct form of I/me, being the object of the preposition, is "me."

We didn't want Casey to join the Army, but once he made that decision, we supported him and even encouraged him through boot camp.

...and now that he's dead, we're exploiting his corpse to hurt the President, those still serving, the entire country, Iraq, and the world.

But I get a pass on that because (A) I'm a grieving mother, and (B) the media love me! They really love me!

And I never ask the question, "Why?"

A caller into Bill Bennett's Morning in America this morning speculated on the relationship between Mrs. Sheehan and her son. Apparently, Mrs. Sheehan has been a peace activist for many years. She may have become upset with her son when he initially joined the military, an action totally against her beliefs.

I find it interesting that she's now chastising her critics to "leave her family alone," when she's the one who has abandoned her family to go camp out in Texas. What television show was it that had the leftist flunky stating that she was now a "family of one?" She can't have it both ways.
