This is the FAA accident report for the mid-air collision in Florida one year prior to the 9/11/01 attacks on the WTC and Pentagon (and PA).
I brought this up in the week of 9/11/01, but this story was apparently "lost" in the news at the time. There were subsequent articles on this topic, and where FReepers can still find them, they should be appended onto posts on this thread.
Some important points to consider:
the Saudi national who piloted his aircraft into the Piper Aztec commercial flight had received his pilot's license from the Phillipines
Early blogs at the time noted that the Saudi pilot was Mohamed Atta or Alhazmi's roommate (this point needs to be confirmed)
This was a 9/11 attack...9/11 of 2000, not 2001
The 9/11 Congressional Commission did NOT research earlier 9/11 attacks such as this one
The 9/11/01 terrorists received $100,000 wire transfer to Florida one week after their 9/11/2000 attack at Ft Pierce airport, on September 18, 2000 ( http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/timeline.jsp?timeline=complete_911_timeline&startpos=300#a062900transfer )
The Ft. Pierce 9/11/2000 attack was only 83 miles from the 9/11/2001 attackers' Del Ray beach condo
...and, this 9/11/2000 attack is relevant to the new discovery that *LAWYERS* in the Clinton Administration prevented Able Danger intel (and other information) on these terrorists from reaching the FBI (read: Gorelick's Wall).
Which is SOP for the defense condition that CONUS was at, at the time. At certain defense conditions, "DEFCONS", the only thing flying is US military, or should be.
On this, we will simply need to agree to disagree.
From AP story in LexisNexis (no link):
DATE: September 12, 2000
HEADLINE: Second pilot killed in Fort Pierce collision was Arabian student
Ameer Bukhari, 39, was flying a single-engine Piper Cherokee that collided Monday afternoon with a twin-engine Piper Aztec being flown by Roger Boromei, 31, of Maineville, Ohio.
I never heard the official explanation but it fits now.
Thanks for that confirmation on the pilots' names.
Interestingly, Bukhari's ID was used to RENT THE CAR for one of the 9/11/01 hi-jackers.
I agree that the 00 crash doesn't look like terrorism. If a skeptic like me could be convinced of anything, and there really was a relationship between this pilot and Atta... then perhaps we might now know why the date 9/11/01 was chosen. - a memorial after the fact makes more sense than a prequel.

I think the collision was the result of mistakes made by an inexperienced student pilot. Happens all the time. The crash is not the key part of the story. The hijackers who flew the planes on 9/11 received their pilot training in Florida as did the pilot discussed in this report. A Saudi student pilot who was a roommate of the 9/11 terrorists? What are the odds?
No. Never reported and didn't happen in 2000. Atta was in 2001. His 2001 hi-jacking crew did use the ID of the Florida 9/11/2000 pilot to rent a car, however.
I thought you would like to read it.
The odds are longer than I would have bet money on, you're right.
WTF? Salman Pak wasn't in the 9/11 Comission report?
What a fraud.....
That is really interesting and signficant. You've done good work here.
I have always thought that 990 was a rehearsal of some sort.
How did early bloggers report that it was initially Mohamed Atta?
A quick and suspicious mind!
That kid that shot about students in Arkansas som years back - and was underage - is being released this week
Age has nothing to do with evil - or ego -
Alexander the Great did lots of damage at 18 -
I'll wait a bit next time
I'm busy here
And like to see others post the same thoughts
We are - after all - "The Good Borg"

Recall the "complexion medication" defense - after the fact?
His hero was OBL
He should have studied some Einstein first
He must have flunked physics and chemistry and math

Sorry partner, I do this stuff for a living and I fail to see your point.
That was only speculation on my part, not fact. We have no evidence for that -- he may have just been freshening up his skills for his biennial check ride.

Bukhari's brother, Ameer Bukhari, died in a small plane crash in Florida last year, according to a lawyer for the family.
