Sen. Barbara Boxer said Wednesday she will vote against Supreme Court nominee John Roberts unless he supports rights she considers essential - - including abortion and privacy -- and slow Senate business to a crawl if he doesn't answer her questions.
"I need to know exactly where he will stand, and I need to know if he will fight to protect and defend the rights and freedoms of the American people,'' Boxer, D-Calif., told reporters after addressing a group of law students and abortion rights supporters at Golden Gate University in San Francisco.
Those rights, she said, include reproductive choice and the constitutional right of privacy that was the basis of Roe vs. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court ruling legalizing abortion. Boxer said she was alarmed to learn that Roberts, as a lawyer in President Ronald Reagan's Justice Department, referred in a 1981 memo to a "so-called right of privacy.''
Roberts must answer questions about his writings, his work on anti- abortion legal briefs, and his rulings as a federal appeals court judge, including a recent opinion that questioned federal authority to protect endangered species, Boxer said.
If he declines, she said, she will "use all the parliamentary tools I've been given as a U.S. senator,'' including procedures that "make it difficult for other business to get done until we get the information we need.'' She did not threaten a filibuster, however, reflecting Democrats' hesitation to embark on all-out political warfare against the nomination.

Think 1960's like they do - they reserve the 'right' to kill their mistakes if they get high and get knocked up. They reserve the 'right' to kill, rather than take on the responsibility of a life. Life's just a big pot party, and war protest, and the sex is free in their warped world.
It's all about (killing) the children.
I used to be ashamed of Having this ***** as one of my senators, but now I realize that people are leaving the Democratic party in droves because of her.
Go Boxer.
She's stupid.
No nominee will or should say exactly how they will rule on cases. That prejudices[get it?]the law.
She should know that.
Oh, I know she does and this is all loudmouth theater.
But her dumber minions eat this crapola up. They must...she keeps getting re-elected.
Abortion is the only issue that Senator "Babs The Red Diaper Baby" Boxer, ever runs on, besides her mouth.
Doesn't this "lady" know, that the Constitution does not guarantee a "right to privacy" ?
A recess appointment of Robert Bork to the Supreme Court while the Senate slows to a crawl should speed things up!
Blah, blah, blah -- just more Boxer-speak -- Got Botox, Babs?
"I need to know if he will fight to protect and defend the rights and freedoms of the American people"
That's not his job, it's yours. When are you going to start? Like say, fighting to make sure we're not killed by terrorists in our homeland? Hmmmm, Babs?
Hey if you didn't vote for her you should not have to feel shame, I'm in CA and my main feelings about "box-of-rocks [dumb as]" Boxer are REVULSION, LOL.
They have several goals.
First is to free women from the consquences of our actions, making us less responsible and thoughtful about what we do, hence less adult.
Second is to decrease the value we place on life. Inconvenient people such as unwanted babies, severely mentally retarded or mentally injured people (think Terri Schiavo), elderly people who can no longer make decisions for themselves (dementia or Alzheimer's victims, for example), etc., are all targets for abortion or having the feeding tube pulled or withholding medical care.
Third, by cheapening life they can weaken the argument that we are the children of God, responsible to Him for the way we lead our lives, therefore decreasing the moral principles and context which give our lives structure and meaning.
Fourth, by cheapening life they increase the possibility of human embryos being created for the purpose of harvesting stem cells. It also raises the specter of human beings being grown for use as organ donors.
The Liberals have lots of jolly plans for us in the future. And once they've established that human life is not divinely inspired and worthy of protection, on what basis will we be able to fight them?
Somebody please remind her that there is a war going on.
Her pet political issues cannot be allowed to dominate the government's business.
She knows the MSM is ginning up 'tempest in a teapot' scandals and time is on her side. Even a recent Drudge headline queried 'any more surprises from Roberts?' What surprises? The only criticisms that have come close to problematic has been that Roberts has had CLIENTS with views the left doesn't like. Lawyers aren't required to share their clients' philosophies or propenities, any more than a lawyer who defends a killer has to be one. It doesn't matter if there are legitimate concerns about Roberts' qualifications if the public perceives that there are, and the MSM is working diligently on creating that perception.
I agree. It's too bad we don't have a law to impeach certifiably stupid people from Congress! We could get rid of Boxer and many more of her ilk. She has no interest in the Constitution or law - only her selfish and stupid agenda.

The two smartest women in the world...
In the ancient times, the Canaanites and Phoenicians would sacrifice babies to Baal, burning them in a fiery furnace. It was a sacrament to their fervently held beliefs, a ritual to invoke power.
Now, the furnace is in the basement of the abortuaries.
They should be forever known as the Gang of Fourteen Fools
So you are not aware of the Fourth Amendment, Fifth Amendment, Third amendment or First amendment? Read them some time.
