FAMILY OF FALLEN SOLDIER PLEADS: PLEASE STOP, CINDY! Thu Aug 11 2005 12:56:21 ET

The family of American soldier Casey Sheehan, who was killed in Iraq on April 4, 2004, has broken its silence and spoken out against his mother Cindy Sheehan's anti-war vigil against George Bush held outside the president's Crawford, Texas ranch.

The following email was received by the DRUDGE REPORT from Casey's aunt and godmother:

Our family has been so distressed by the recent activities of Cindy we are breaking our silence and we have collectively written a statement for release. Feel free to distribute it as you wish. Thanks Ð Cherie

In response to questions regarding the Cindy Sheehan/Crawford Texas issue: Sheehan Family Statement:

The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our President, silently, with prayer and respect.

Sincerely,

Casey Sheehan's grandparents, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.

How incredibly shameful to see a mother use the death of her son to further her own political agenda.

FWIW=Cindy Crawford speaks for herself, we know that.

I give you, and the parents who have lost a child -and can still function on a daily basis much sincere admiration. BUT-Mz Sheenan is so over the line at this point.

I wish her well and I wish her peace of mind, and I wish she could have enough respect for her son and for this country that she would stop making a fool out of herself.

As much as I can understand someone falling apart after their child dies- I know she does not represent any other parents.

She's being used and she doesn't care.

This is an act of vengeance against George Bush.

She needs professional counseling!

The woman is selfish. It ceased being about her when she engaged in this obsessive behavior. She's now determined to use Death to jeopardize lives and missions of others. It's pure selfishness and not to be applauded.

Second, the President is a good man.

Third, the Press is precisely the opposite.

I do not sympathize with this woman. I do feel pity for her, and I'm sorry the rest of the family is forced to re-live their own loss because this one is certifiable and possessed of a naked political agenda on the back of her son who is a Hero that deserved to have his courage honored not dragged through the mud.

Oh, you don't move on; it's always with you; it is how you choose to deal with it.

Like I said above, I just decided if I fell apart, it would reflect poorly on Drew's life; he loved us for who we were -- and any change in that would have probably made him mad!

This is a uncomfortable situation for most of us who have lost children, not wanting to judge others. But she's not grieving anymore. She's enjoying this, IMO.

Of course. Well stated. Bless Drew and I am sure he looks down favorably upon his HOWLIN Mama! Thanks for sharing such a personal tragedy.

Bless your heart, I remember when you lost your son, and I've thought about that as this discussion rolled on--your grief was just as deep and as real as hers, I'm sure, but I've yet to see you join forces with Code Pink and Michael Moore. (And would be VERY surprised if you did!)

I think that in order to do something like that at any time--with or without a death in the family--it has to already be in a person's makeup.

Betsy, she is never going to have peace of mind, even if she wants it.

She will die a bitter old woman, still blaming George Bush.

"I suspect that they know it's not a hoax. This is just an attempt to divert a very large torpedo that is homing in on their Celebity Moonbat du'jour."

Unlike the MSM, the New Media and people like Drudge do CARE about the quality of their reports... I see it is still posted at Drudge (5:30 pm...)

Oh no, you most certainly were not snippy! I very much appreciate the perspective, and you're right to be concerned that people who don't know what that kind of loss is like (such as myself) will be too magnanimous about the bad behavior of those who do.

Oh, he does; he got a lot of his character from my father, but he got his big mouth from me!

One of my greatest joys is that the last conversations we had was about the Supreme Court ruling that Bush had won in 2000! As bad as that time was politically, I was grateful that he and I had talked a million times every single day about that damn recount!

Given the phone call you heard to the talk show, maybe she's blaming the President because she knows in her heart that she drove her own son away. Maybe it's to cover her own guilt.

Ok, taking down my pop psych shingle...
