  Imagine my distress when I turned Night Line on last night and I was confronted with the gory details of my son's murder in Sadr City, Baghdad, Iraq on 04/04/04. Imagine, also, my sorrow and rage at the side of the story that you presented to the American public.

  I was on the Night Line Townhall Meeting in Washington, DC on 01/27/05. After I spoke (which I think was a fluke), Ted Koppel dismissed me as being "emotional." First of all, how can I approach this discussion without emotions, MY SON WAS KILLED, AND KILLED FOR LIES? Second of all, that show was not fair and balanced and I think the conclusion "Should we stay" was foregone.
 

  The show last night was also not fair and balanced. To see all the wives being interviewed who had not lost their husbands and to hear what "hard work" it is to be left behind when their husbands are at war. How hard to you think it is to have a child killed in an illegal and immoral war? In this "wonderful" group of families left behind, we had exactly ONE of the wives call us..she is Diane Rose who was my son's Colonel, Frank Rose's wife. The last time we heard from Diane was in October and we feel we have been left behind by anyone connected to the 2-5 Cavalry. Is support only given if your loved one stays alive? One wife was quoted as saying that Sundays were the hardest for the families left behind. My son was killed on Palm Sunday last year..how does anybody think Sundays are for my family?
 

  Am I emotional? Yes, my first born was murdered. Am I angry? Yes, he was killed for lies and for a PNAC Neo-Con agenda to benefit Israel. My son joined the Army to protect America, not Israel. Am I stupid? No, I know full-well that my son, my family, this nation, and this world were betrayed by a George Bush who was influenced by the neo-con PNAC agenda after 9/11. We were told that we were attacked on 9/11 because the terrorists hate our freedoms and democracy...not for the real reason, becuase the Arab-Muslims who attacked us hate our middle-eastern foreign policy. That hasn't changed since America invaded and occupied Iraq...in fact it has gotten worse.
 

  It would be so amazing if your show would put me, or another parent who lost their child on who disagrees with the war and this administration: to have just an entire show..without presenting the false side of the debate. That would take a lot of courage and integrity. I hope your program will exhibit these qualities.
 

  I also think that Mr. Koppel owes me an apology for the rude way I was treated on his show. After I expressed myself about the war being based on lies and that the troops should be brought home immediately because the war was based on lies, I was not thanked for my comments, or my son's sacrifice. He just said to keep the discussion away from emotions. Then, the wife of a soldier who was killed was allowed to speak and she praised the policies of this deplorable and despicable administration, and she was thanked and praised by the panel.

The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our President, silently, with prayer and respect.

He can respond. The discussion was out in the open, but it was a response to someone else. Iconoclast is his/her own person, and should not feel slighted. If he was insulted by not being CC'ed, mea culpa.

Nope. If someone aligns themselves with someone who has made blatant antisemitic comments and agrees strongly with those comments, there's an incredibly short path to the label. Why should I have to wait for a Jew to respond before I criticize wrong thinking? That's cowardly.

You may have missed it in the post that you responded to, but we missed the chance to defend the Jews when this sort of nonsense started before, and the Reich moved quickly to capitalize on that lack of outside condemnation. It would be a worse tragedy if such horrors visited them again, considering we SHOULD recognize the pattern.

As for hearing from a Jewish person, I have family members who ARE indeed Jewish, one of which was in the US Army during the war. That fine gentleman was a blond-haired, blue-eyed Jew of all things, and lied about his name when he was captured. This saved him for a while, though they did eventually figure out his racial background, and trucked him off to a camp. He and his lifelong best freind were the only survivors of the breakout in which many of his fellow campmates were gunned down. I know a bit about this subject.

Simply put, don't fall for leftist and/or isolationist dogma and actually try to understand that, in fact, there is no such thing as isolationism. As far as defenders of the status quo, I assume you mean agreeing with our current course of action is considered such. If so, your view of status quo is very small. Status Quo is the nonsense of letting Saddam pop off weapons at our jets during the laughable ceasefire period. Status quo is also letting the terror states continue to go the way they have been going regarding us - now that we have brought the theatre of war to THEIR borders, via our Iraq troop presence, we can influence or directly spur change to that "status quo".

I live on top of a small mountain, in a somewhat rural area in New England, where it is not only normal to have to have a very deep well, but has been the case since it was settled. Have you never read nor seen "MR. BLANDINGS BUILDS HIS DREAM HOUSE" ? The descriptions of what it took to build the house and dig the well through every kind of rock, is not only funny, but completely accurate.

And just WHAT has the depth of my well to do with my son-in-law ? It was dug long before he was even in this country!

You want everyone to depopulate the cities, yearn to live in a rural place, but you have less than no idea what living such a life entails. So let me tell you about wells. Such a deep well, as I have, is not only necessary in many areas in this country, but it is a good thing! Even during long droughts, I don't run out of water; unlike people who have shallow wells. My water is also purer; though the natural deposits in it, means that I have to have a purifier.

I bet that you don't know anything at all about living in a rural area. Your stupid comment about my well proves that, beyond a shadow of a doubt! LOL

Actually, that was a similar situation in my family. My paternal grandmother's family could have passed for Aryans (blond, blue eyed and the men are quite tall). Which shielded them from quite a bit of anti-semitism.

At the same time, cry 'anti-semitism' is a little bit like crying wolf. Which is not to say that wolves don't exist, or aren't a serious problem. But if you see every shadow of a wolf, sooner or later most people will stop believing you. And as a Jew, that's a big concern for me. Cindy Sheehan's views are certainly disturbing, even offensive, to me.

I would like to know why Iconoclast aligns himself with Cindy Sheehan. But I'm going to hold off on calling him an anti-semite for the time being.

I can't see myself showing the same restraint as you. Cindy Sheehan says we waged war at the behest of the state of Israel, the Jewish homeland, I would call that antisemitic. Not the final antisemitism of calling Jews inferior and animals worthy of gassing and experimentation, but it does lump international Jewry together and blames them for the ills of the world.

For Iconoclast to agree with her philosophically, even on the single issue of the Iraq campaign, indicates to me a certain level of antisemitism. I don't see how it can't. It certainly isn't PROSemitism!
