Subject: Re: Fw: Nightline Tonight Mon., March 14, 2005
That was my son's unit. He was killed on that day 04/04/04. Here is a letter that I wrote to NightLine about the broadcast:

To Whom it May Concern:
Imagine my distress when I turned Night Line on last night and I was confronted with the gory details of my son's murder in Sadr City, Baghdad, Iraq on 04/04/04. Imagine, also, my sorrow and rage at the side of the story that you presented to the American public.
[SNIP]
I was on the Night Line Townhall Meeting in Washington, DC on 01/27/05. After I spoke (which I think was a fluke), Ted Koppel dismissed me as being "emotional." First of all, how can I approach this discussion without emotions, MY SON WAS KILLED, AND KILLED FOR LIES? Second of all, that show was not fair and balanced and I think the conclusion "Should we stay" was foregone.
The show last night was also not fair and balanced. To see all the wives being interviewed who had not lost their husbands and to hear what "hard work" it is to be left behind when their husbands are at war. How hard to you think it is to have a child killed in an illegal and immoral war? In this "wonderful" group of families left behind, we had exactly ONE of the wives call us..she is Diane Rose who was my son's Colonel, Frank Rose's wife. The last time we heard from Diane was in October and we feel we have been left behind by anyone connected to the 2-5 Cavalry. Is support only given if your loved one stays alive? One wife was quoted as saying that Sundays were the hardest for the families left behind. My son was killed on Palm Sunday last year..how does anybody think Sundays are for my family?
Am I emotional? Yes, my first born was murdered. Am I angry? Yes, he was killed for lies and for a PNAC Neo-Con agenda to benefit Israel. My son joined the Army to protect America, not Israel. Am I stupid? No, I know full-well that my son, my family, this nation, and this world were betrayed by a George Bush who was influenced by the neo-con PNAC agenda after 9/11. We were told that we were attacked on 9/11 because the terrorists hate our freedoms and democracy...not for the real reason, becuase the Arab-Muslims who attacked us hate our middle-eastern foreign policy. That hasn't changed since America invaded and occupied Iraq...in fact it has gotten worse.
It would be so amazing if your show would put me, or another parent who lost their child on who disagrees with the war and this administration: to have just an entire show..without presenting the false side of the debate. That would take a lot of courage and integrity. I hope your program will exhibit these qualities.
I also think that Mr. Koppel owes me an apology for the rude way I was treated on his show. After I expressed myself about the war being based on lies and that the troops should be brought home immediately because the war was based on lies, I was not thanked for my comments, or my son's sacrifice. He just said to keep the discussion away from emotions. Then, the wife of a soldier who was killed was allowed to speak and she praised the policies of this deplorable and despicable administration, and she was thanked and praised by the panel.
"So she is in league with the enemy. She's gone over completely to the dark side. Another anti American, Jew hating, far Left anti Semite creep."
All that...and she gets her propaganda (they call it "news")from the liberal media....so her brain has gone to mush.
The Japanese fascists were brutal. Just ask the residents of Nanking and China in the 30's.
I'm not suggesting that Shaheen's Jawad was once Iraq's Oil Minister. But I wouldn't be surprised to discover that he was once on Saddam's payroll. Jawad doesn't come across as your ordinary everyday moonbat peacenik. He seems to have a much narrower focus and a more exact Saddam-sympathetic agenda. It appears clear to me that he uses ordinary everyday moonbat peaceniks like Shaheen as his foot soldiers.
"He would not want to see his Mom in this sorry state. God bless you Casey and I hope your Family is blessed also, you mom really needs prayer now."
It doesn't sound like he wanted to see his mom at all. If I feel sorry for anyone it's her kids.
I just read her notes about today. Theres a spot to leave a comment. Be nice.
Heheh. Well, that's fair, I suppose. But that means you'll never have access to our super secret media/banking/stock market/medicine conspiracy. We control everything. Like that time when I was like "Hey Chris Matthews! Dance for me, b!tch."
G-d bless Free Republic. Where whether Christian, Jew, Buddhist and Hindu, paleocon, neocon, classical liberal or libertarian, we're always right.
Bill Kristol was very plugged in to the White House and used his magazine to lobby for the war.
Robert Novak has said on more that one occasion that Rumsfeld wasn't gung ho on the war. But being a team player, he followed orders. I'm not sure, but I think it was Novak who wrote that Karl Rove walked into a meeting at the AEI in the spring of 2004 and said there wouldn't be anymore wars this year or next and ended up being blasted by the neocon elite.
What I'm saying is, we weren't greeted as liberators as the neocons predicted except for in the Kurdish areas.
Heh, I'll settle for a just meritocratic republic with strong conceptions of liberty and the rights of citizens as outlined in the constitution. Ever notice how people who dislike other 'races' and see Jooooooowish bogeyman everywhere tend to do poorly in any system that relies on ability and not the colour of your skin?
"denial's in there, too. I'm not sure stages are quite that discreet."
Of course not. I was just generalizing. There's certainly a load of denial going on too, but at this point in time it seems that crazy lady is more angry than in denial.
And that's what really confuses me. How some of the most angry people out there are the ones who scream about the fact there's not enough peace in the world. I don't get it. Such idealism should begin with them - not be meant for everyone else except them. But, in my book, you really can't rationalize the left. Like crazy Cindy, does she really believe that if we left Iraq and Jews left Palestine - then that would be the end of terrorism??? Nobody can be that stupid... or can they?
I would be careful about using Novak as a source. He spouts the same anti-Israel stuff from time to time.
Kristol has NO influence in the administration. Now Fred Barnes might, because he isn't mistrusted by the Bush people, but I can guarantee you that Kristol is NOT in the loop on anything.
Now, please stop sticking up for Cindy Sheehan's anti-semitic opinions.
I can live with that, but I need to know the answer to one question.
Madonna, you didn't really let her in, did you?
JPFO's been asking the same question for some time now.
Yep. The rabble are prime material for recruitment to very, very nasty movements. In truth, though, we probably will not see a repeat of what happened in Europe in the 1930s here in the US. My fear is that we will see a repeat of what happened *here* in the US during that same time - Fr. Coughlin, Henry Ford, Brown Shirts, etc. Right as things continue to heat up geopolitically, the existence of a large faction of appeasers and fellow travellers of procrustean monsters may hamstring us and stall our action. I would really be worried if an "anti war" candidate were to gain the presidency.
Scratch a leftie, find an antisemite.
Bravo, Miss Marple!
Playing the race card, are we?
No one needed to "sell" the president no the war.
Are you unaware that former President Clinton signed the Iraqi Liberation Act in 1998 which called for regime change?
Are you unaware the John Kerry in 1998 gave an interview with Cokie Roberts on ABC calling for American boots on the ground to force regime change?
This country has been headed toward war with Iraq since 1992 when Iraq repeatedly violated UN resolutions and shot at our planes.
Bob Woodward's first book after 9/11, Bush At War, documents that Iraq was discussed at that time but it was decided that a) Afghanistan should be dealt with first and b) we needed to build up our troop strength before tackling Iraq.
You honestly think reporters at The Weekly Standard, those "neocons" as you so quaintly call them, talked the president into war? I have to question your judgement and your age.
