Up the reserves limit to 50 and I'll sign up.

Didn't the WW-II draft reach up to 45?
"Under current law, the maximum age to enlist in the
active components is 35, while people up to age 39
may enlist in the reserves. By practice, the accepted
age for recruits is 27 for the Air Force, 28 for the
Marine Corps and 34 for the Navy and Army, although
the Army Reserve and Navy Reserve sometimes take
people up to age 39 in some specialties, the report
stated."

Hell, I am 66, but if needed to sweep floors or pull KP, I am still capable of doing such if it will free up men & women needed elsewhere. I could also pull the trigger if push comes to shove.

They must be getting tired of telling potential recruits they are too old to join.

Hmmm...sounds good. I think the pinch test to stay off the fat boy program may be less forgiving this time around.

I'm pushing 48. If they up it to 50 (or 48) I'll join the reserves tomorrow.

I'm 2 weeks away from 49. I've never been in the military, but my assignments as a DoD contractor put me into the fray on domestic and foreign military bases. The ante went up recently as I attended an aviation survival training course. I try to keep up with the physical standards demanded of my son in the USMC reserves. It is a continuing challenge to maintain that level of fitness with a very demanding schedule as a software/hardware engineer.

Nothing wrong with that. 40-somethings have a wealth of experience to bring to the table.
