A high-ranking executive siphons off government money intended for inner-city children. The company tries to wash its hands of the problem. Where is the New York Times to cover the story? Where are Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to demand money and an apology? We're talking about Air America's emerging charity scandal. Liberals wish it would go away. It won't, not least because over the weekend it emerged that New York state attorney general Eliot Spitzer has opened an investigation. Like the New York City Department of Investigation, his office wants to find out what happened to the more than $800,000 in tax dollars for inner-city children and the elderly that were apparently funneled through Air America by a former executive.

Perhaps this story is finally getting some traction.. It is, but unfortunately it won't get the coverage. Whatever happens will be done quietly in the background. You'll never hear about the arrests or convictions assuming one still get their information from the old MSM.

Perhaps this story is finally getting some traction...Indeed! Thanks for bumping the thread.

You'll never hear about the arrests or convictions assuming one still get their information from the old MSM. I wouldn't be so sure about that...Spitzer is famous for his perp-walks for the media...and Spitzer might need to take down a Lib in a big, public way to show he's "non-partisan" in his doings before his run for Albany...

BTW, I'm told that calling this scandal "Air Enron" drives the Left nuts, FWIW.

I can tell you it is not getting a lot of attention with the DUmmies. The few times it is brought up the most common comments are that there are more important issues...like Rove, Phlame, Bushco, the war, etc. They will do anything to avoid facing the truth

Al Franken already explained this mishap. It was brain cancer.
Nice to see the liberals are taking their scandals seriously.

Elliot Spitzer opened and investigation. Elliot Spitzer, the Giuliani wannabe and sycophant par excellence? What,
he's going to be able blow his way through Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's gauntlet of protection around the New Liberal Media?
Well, maybe, but it won't be for efforts to move heaven and earth from the interested parties. On the principal that vultures eat the dead, maybe.

Liberals love the poor and the elderly. They love the disadvantaged. They love everyone, so long as they can be *used*. Otherwise, they're indifferent to them.

Sounds like a plan to me. From today on, my acquaintances on the Left will get an earful about Air Enron.

i read the other day that Air America couldn't meet its payroll last Friday. So how will they repay this illegal $800,000 "loan" as Al Franken has said they will?

***..........His most prominent endevour of late has been to spearhead a liberal Talk News Network "Air America" which is being picked up by radio affiliates across the nation as an alternative to Conservative Radio Shows. Franken currently lives in New York with his wife and is rumbling about possible political aspirations in 2008. A good place to begin with Al Franken is the now classic "Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot and Other Observations".
Here, Franken derides prominent Right-Wing figures for the free ride he claims they've received from the mainstream media.......***
