Members of CODEPINK: WOMEN FOR PEACE Begin Hunger Strike to Support Cindy Sheehan's Roadside Vigil in Crawford, Texas
Crawford, Texas--Cindy Sheehan of Vacaville, California, whose son Casey was killed in Iraq on April 4, 2004, traveled to Crawford, Texas with hundreds of anti-war activists to confront President Bush at his Crawford ranch. Sheehan wants to ask Bush, "Why did you kill my son? What did my son die for?" and demand a speedy withdrawal of troops in Iraq. During their march in the 100 degree heat, the protesters were forced into a ditch teeming with fire ants. Sheehan, who co-founded Gold Star Families for Peace, refuses to leave until the President comes out to speak with her.
Marching with Sheehan was CODEPINK co-founder Diane Wilson, along with many members of CODEPINK: WOMEN FOR PEACE, a grassroots peace and social justice movement that seeks positive social change through proactive, creative protest and non-violent direct action. Wilson, who continues to stand vigil with Sheehan, pledged that CODEPINK would join Sheehan in solidarity through a hunger strike. Members of CODEPINK are flocking to Crawford to support Sheehan's stance, and are embarking upon vigilant fasts around the globe. Ann Wright, who resigned from the U.S. Foreign Service on March 19, 2003, in disagreement with the Bush administration's decision to go to war in Iraq without the authorization of the UN Security Council, has joined Sheehan and Wilson in their roadside vigil.
In an open letter, Sheehan writes, "We would like for [President Bush] to explain this 'noble cause' to us and ask him why Jenna and Barbara are not in harm's way, if the cause is so noble." She adds, "If George is not ready to send the twins, then he should bring our troops home immediately." She asks supporters to "Bring water and hats we plan on staying until we are arrested or satisfied with the answers."

Go, go, Cindy! Dance on those graves, baby! Dance, Cindy, dance!
I hope these people aren't actually foolish enough to go through with their hunger strike. It's a world-class loser who attempts to hijack our foreign policy by starving himself.
Ah. The smell of a liberal standing on a fresh grave is much like the smell of a petulant moral windbag standing on a fresh corpse.
i had just read the headline and heard the news after being pointed out the facts(that she met,and just wants to make trouble) well i have changed, but Bush can still turn this back into the lefts face by taking her into the ranch and meat---no press or code pinks and see what happens,if she changed it would throw the dems (libs) for a loop.BUT given the history no he doesnt have to
Here is another picture of her that I am not allowed to show here (I'm not complaining, I'm just making a point)
Note the difference between the garb that she affects, and the uniform that he would proudly wear.
I would like to meet and shake the hand of the guy who forced them into the ditch with the Fire Ants.
I agree -- I thought she was being used unwittingly until I read 2004 not 2005 -- changed my whole perspective on this woman and not for the better.
For a while I was thinking maybe President Bush would/could meet with here AGAIN, but after I saw her performance on Wolf Blitzer's show today, I realized that it wouldn't matter what Pres. Bush does or says to her, she will just lie to make him still the "bad guy" and she the "victim"...
If you didn't see her performance on CNN---after Wolf asked her about her meeting with Bush back right after her son died, she made some kind of wandering remarks, but then said that Bush made it out like it was a "party" when he came to visit she and her family...
A FRIGGIN' PARTY---even Wolf was speechless that she would say that...knowing what we know of President Bush there is NO WAY he did that....so I don't trust her to see him and be truthful afterwards...and I doubt he does either.
Great Rant!
Is this one of those "Al Sharpton Hunger Strikes" when one gains weight?
In between the Peter Jennings memorial segments, Katie Colon headlined her story in the first half-hour of Today's anti-US show. They did mention, however, that she did meet with the President last year, but gave her version, of course.
I imagine Rush will have something to say about it this morning.
