PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: With the President, First Lady and the dogs relaxing at the ranch this weekend, there are no new photos to post. So I've selected a theme -- GWB and our Armed Forces -- and found many photos to let us enjoy a walk down memory lane. The theme photos are all from early in his presidency. They show GWB's closeness with our military both before and after 9/11/01.
THE WEEK AHEAD:
Monday, the President travels to Albuquerque, New Mexico. He will be touring the Sandia Laboratory there, and then will be making remarks after signing the comprehensive energy legislation that passed recently.
Tuesday, the President is going to have his economic advisors to the ranch. He will participate in a briefing with them on the state of our economy. Afterwards, GWB will make some remarks and participate in a press availability.
Wednesday, President Bush will traveling to Aurora, Illinois, where he will sign the transportation legislation. Aurora is the largest town in the north-central Illinois congressional district of House Speaker Dennis Hastert.
Saturday, tentative, but the President usually participates in an RNC event in August at the ranch. As of yesterday, the President's schedule was not firmed up beyond Wednesday.
QUOTE OF THE DAY Excerpt from the presidential radio address, Saturday, August 6, 2005:
As families across the country enjoy the summer, Americans can be optimistic about our economic future. In the past four years, our economy has been through a lot: we faced a stock market decline, a recession, corporate scandals, an attack on our homeland, and the demands of an ongoing war on terror.
To grow the economy and help American families, we acted by passing the largest tax relief in a generation. And today, thanks to the tax relief and the efforts of America's workers and entrepreneurs, our economy is strong and growing stronger.
This past week, we learned that America added over 200,000 new jobs in July. Since May of 2003, we've added nearly 4 million new jobs. The unemployment rate is down to 5 percent, below the average of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. And more Americans are working today than ever before in our nation's history.
We need to make the tax relief permanent, end the death tax forever, and make our tax code simpler, fairer and more pro-growth.
Hi, prairie. You got it. That's exactly what they are.
do you think she's being paid?
IMHO the only and best thing we can in a situation like this where there is so much media spin and malnuplination of people who are possibly venerable is pray.
The power of pray is our best and most affective weapon to evil and this IMHO is evil.
One of the reasons Maureen O'Hara is my all-time favorite actress is that she was such a perfect partner for John Wayne in their films together. She never played the weepy, hysterical, dumb woman. Although she was always classy and feminine, she gave the Duke all he could handle and more. In my opinion, her's is one of the most under-rated careers (same for Glenn Ford, who's another of my favorites).
What can we do about this?.....we can get her previous statements out to Rush, Brit, Hannity etc...any sympathy I had for this woman is gone...she makes me sick!
I hope some other families will come forward and speak in support of the President.
And I think CNN and the advertisers should be deluged with letters of complaint.
Blogs should, by now, be passing this around, and Ithink we all need to call talk radio and make sure the story gets out. Print out the article exposing this womans switch, so that we have the information in front of us when we call. Letters to the editor would alaso be good.
This is one time when the grass roots will have to step up and carry the ball. The President can't do more than say he already met with this woman once; anything more and the press will spin it that he is picking on a poor mother who lost her son.
From her activities you listed, it seems to me the Left doesn't need to work too hard to get her on board. She's one of them. They aren't using her -- she's using the tragedy of her son's death as a political weapon.
I truly, truly hate judging the sincerity of other people's grief, but I know all too well how not all women who give birth are worthy of being called mothers. My mother loved her booze more than she ever loved me, so she skipped when I was a baby. Sheehan appears to love her Marxist politics more than she loved her son.
WOW -- DREAMY!! Thank you SO much ... that's just fabulous!!
BTW: This IS hurting the President both personally and politically . . . What should/can we do about this?!
Sen. George Allen today made a suggestion that on the
surface I might say no. But this left wing propaganda
is not going away. He said The Prez should meed with
(that pond suum) my words. The Prez can show by confronting
her what a lying b**** she is.
It is coming to a point that this can't stand and try to
put a happy face on it will not work.
I deal with types like her all the time, and they are not
going away. We need to show others what they really are.
He looks very familiar to me. Is he an Episcopal priest? He just looks like someone I have seen before.
Agreed.
I don't know. Yahoo's captions didn't identify the bus riders. However, I would not be at all surprised to find out that the guy is from some Left-wing church organization. Their names could be mentioned in some of the news reports. Let me step over to Yahoo and look. Be back in a moment.
Could you bring me up to speed on how Texas Cowboy is doing?
Last I heard he was in Los Angeles for medical attention. How'd that go?
I can't imagine the pain of loss of a child, and I empathize with her loss. However, her son was a volunteer .. I think she descrates his valiant service by these actions, and I think she's being used by the all-too-willing Bush enemies. Whenever I see her, I have to turn her off. I can't stand her voice and whining.
He's still in CA for treatment ... which is slated to be ongoing for quite a long time. His spirit, perseverance, faith and grit are mountain high. Please keep him in your prayers.
He looks a bit like a younger Richard Branson to me
Does anyone have an address, hospital and room number, or friend's address in L.A., so I could send him another card?
I don't know if he ever got the ones I sent to his P.O. Box when he first got ill in Texas.
but that makes sense considering how the Left flooded into academia a couple of generations ago (at least
#####
It was another way to avoid the draft - to enter the teaching profession. Anti war then and anti-war now.
Lots of them are retired and enjoying their generous pensions now.
Apparently, a couple of people from the WH communications office did meet with her [big mistake]. She said she didn't believe what they had to say. Anyone who expected otherwise needs to see a man about a bridge for sale.
In the good news department, however, I found this:
The protesters stopped their bus miles from the ranch in Crawford, and walked less than a half-mile before being stopped by local law enforcement officials.
I don't think she's being used at all. If anything, she's the one doing the using.
I'm not one who automatically assumes that there was a loving parent-child relationship in such cases. I am sorry for the death of her son, but for him, not for her. One is not necessarily a mother because one gave birth to a child. With her Marxist background, I'd lay dollars to donuts she didn't approve of his entering the military, and it's a better than even month bet that he did so to get away from an unhappy home life.
Now that the young man has died tragically, she gets her 15 minutes of fame and turns his death into a Marxist cause celebre. Sorry. That [boy am I ever itching to use a blue word]...chick gets no sympathy from me whatsoever. I hope she stays out in the Texas sun for the next several weeks and fries her brains out.
