Let's take up a collection for one-way bus fare in '06 and '08 after we kick their disgruntled asses some more.

By then, we'll have a conservative government in Canada as well...so where would they go?

Yes, it's always their intentions that are the most important. But to be actually inconvenienced when their convictions are only paper thin - please.

Toby Condliffe, who heads the Canadian chapter of Democrats Abroad, did have an explanation of sorts. "I can only assume the Americans who checked out the Web site subsequently checked out our winter temperatures and further took note that the National Hockey League was being locked out and had second thoughts," he told Reuters.

Is this guy, a Democrat leader himself, actually saying that Democrats don't know that it gets cold in Canada?

I don't need an article to tell me this. I offered to drive them up myself and there were no takers. Not one.

Canada generally tilts more to the social and political left than the United States

What a shame! I'd trade 10 nutty Americans for 1 conservative Canadian anytime.

Canada is one of the few major nations seeking to attract immigrants

Dig a deep tunnel from Mexico to Canada - Problem solved.

Interesting.

The one thing the article didn't mention was out of all applications received, how many were actually accepted?

I'd be curious as to which states had the highest levels of applicants too.

The liberals realize where the money is. Canada has many things to recomment it (I've visited there a number of times in recent years and have enjoyed all the trips), but the ultra-libs know where their bread is buttered.

In the days after President Bush won a second term, the number of U.S. citizens visiting Canada's main immigration Web site shot up sixfold, prompting speculation that unhappy Democrats would flock north.

Only an idiot would have believed that the increase in hits on the web site was evidence of a mass of disaffected Americans sincerely planning to move to Canada - but then there certainly are a lot of idiots in the press, in the Democrat leadership, and in certain corners of the Canadian government, and childish hopes got in the way of critical thinking.

It should have been obvious (in fact, it was at the time, except that idiots rarely notice the obvious), that one news story picked up on Drudge, picked up by other outlets and spread around the net, caused a swarm of click-throughs out of mere curiosity - people wondering about what the flee-to-Canada crybabies would see if any of them were sincere enough to check things out up North. Heck, I think that I may have even clicked on a link to that site, yet I proudly voted for Bush. I'm not the only one.

This is just yet another illustration of the saying, "nothing attracts a crowd like a crowd". To have believed that flocks (gaggles?) of whimpering, confused lefty pantywaists would flee across the border to escape the hellish nightmare of life in an imperialist Amerikkka under a second term of the Bush presidency requires a level of obtuseness that is mind boggling.

What happened to that little hippie daisey picker that was going to sell her Volvo and go to Canada? I thought, HUH?, you don't need a car in Canada? Maybe she thought her Volvo was tainted also.
