BROCKTON, Mass. -- A man lifting his infant daughter out of his car was killed in an apparent case of road rage by a motorist "who obviously exploded" and shot him four times at close range in front of dozens of witnesses, authorities said.

I'm sorry for your loss. I know lots of people that need help, but they refuse it. It is frustrating.
You have to live it to understand it! See my post #40.
Where do the "license" handguns?
Wow, never heard that one before. Taxachussetts now has some serious competition. Do these two masses have names? (Starting with k?)
I worked for many years for a man who, it turned out, was manic depressive. He wasn't accurately diagnosed until just recently and probably lived with the disease most of his 60 years. From what I understand, it is often not an easy disease to diagnose. Most doctors diagnose and treat the depression, but not the mania. That's what happened to my former boss. He took a number of anti-depressants over the years, but they did nothing for his mania. He's now the subject of a long-term research study at one of our local university medical centers, and by all accounts, he is doing much better.
My former boss, though, was not a violent man. The manic side made him a little too happy -- giddy, sometimes happy at an inappropriate time (eg., laughing at a funeral). He would also get these sudden ideas to start painting a room in his house at 2:00 in the morning...out of the ordinary things.
Something else I should say: While it is true that some people on certain antidepressives become violent and/or suicidal, they don't always. I know there have been reports of Prozac, for example, being blamed for these things, but I also understand that the incidence of these "side effects" is really rather low. I took Prozac for a lot of years and at no time did I ever feel suicidal or violent. What will probably happen is that this guy's lawyer is going to seize upon these media reports and a handful of studies and right away blame the anti-depressive for this guy's rage. Sort of like the "twinkie" defense of some years ago. Let's just hope the jury doesn't buy it.
The FBI doesn't seem to have any problems shooting nursing mothers. I don't see why this guy should be treated any differently.
Some idiot judge is sure to let him off.
precisely.....both last names start with 'K'
and one's middle name is Ketchup
This is the textbook definition of Murder 1 and screams out for the death penalty or at least life. But since this is liberal MA, he'll be paroled in 5-10 if he does time at all.
6 month suspension with pay?
No, a promotion.
A LOT of crazy people out there. You have to wonder if they ever go back and reflect on their behavior later.
How'd he get a gun? I thought Mass had some of the toughtest gun controls in the country???
Actually, since the guy that was after me was a definite Type "A" personality, I was hoping he went home, had a heart attack and died...
I have had several cars drive right next to me, slowing down, speeding up with me....BUT, I am terrified to even look at them...because to look at them might provoke something...
I was driving home one night behind a truck with men in the back, and they were doing the same with a car beside them....when the car REALLY slowed down, hoping that the truck would go on, the truck pulled in front of the car and the men in back started shooting at the car!
I don't know what happened, I immediately exited...
It is almost impossible for the common person to get a CCW in Mass. insanity...
IIRC, in Mass. you have to a handgun license to OWN a handgun. It isn't a carry license.
In any event, it goes to illustrate: in civilian world, guns and anger NEVER go together.
Anger can spoil your aim, as well as your judgement.
My exhusband is M/D and his manic side always made him run off and do impulsive things. He would have a job, home, family and he'd run off and leave everything under the guise of adventure. I finally had to not let him come back as his mania would destroy our children if I kept letting him do it. When he was good, he was great. When he was off, he was horrid.
Does anyone know, if you punch 911 on your cell phone while on the highway, to which 911 center will your call be directed?
