Sometimes I can't help but think would Truman have done it this way? What if he had?

"Many more Iraqis are now dying for their country than Americans...and if they are to be free and soverign, that is how it should be. We are still there because the job is not done and I believe, there on the Syrian border we are hunting something of great value in the overall war."

Sure, more Iraqis are making the ultimate sacrifice -- as they should for their own country.

Am I to assume you believe the Syrian border hold a treasure trove of goodies that may break the WoT open? Hope you're right...

But until that happens, it's not fair to ask American Forces to hold the fort for Iraqi Muslims indefinitely. Moreover, word is resentment amongst the general populace is growing ever more resentful of our presense.

"Aren't the Iraqis supposed to be risking their lives for their country?"

Some are, but with Americans fighting and dying for an Iraqi "Musocracy," why bother?

" "We are supposedly there now as consultants and trainers, in addition to our ongoing humanitarian efforts."

Don't know about "supposedly," LE, but you're right -- our presense by now ought to have been more along those capacities at this juncture of time.

Instead, our guys are still having to exterminate this vermin while being hogtied by stringent Rules of Engagement as to not "offend" the world OR the Democrats.

Chill you old fart!

My biases come AFTER working with both organizations. Read my profile and you'll see that my work there was as a civilian.

Of course, the Army didn't treat the US civilians like prisoners and enemy forces. There was a USMC 0-5 that learned a very expensive lesson from his "F'ing" with US civilians over there. And I was there when it happened.

The Army, Navy, USAF didn't frisk US civilians at the DFAC or make them remove any clothing....the USMC did and did it with fingers on triggers.

If you think that the enemy was ever intimidated by the USMC, you are sadly mistaken. And if you think that they are taking my year old observations and devising battle strategy from my FR postings, you are dumber than you sound.

If I had detailed with the Evil Squads do, that might be different. But I didn't.

But take my word for it, the Bad Guys know the differnce between the Army and the USMC way of doing things. That's why the Army was able to run convoys during the day and the USMC couldn't.

Me? I've convoyed through Fallujah at night with the USMC escorts and in the daytime with Army escorts.

So you can stuff you bad ass attitude and give it to someone that might give a dam aout what you think.

I do not believe that the Iraqis are asking us to totally hold the fort. A lot of them are dying in this fight...many more than our own losses. As time goes on, the balance will continue to shift, as it should.

I simply think we need to unleash hell or get out. You can't titty bump with these people. They will wait until the end of the world to kill you. They know they can't go toe to toe with the US so they will keep doing what they are doing. In the end, there will never be reasonable security unless this war is taken to another level. Hold neighboring states responsible for not doing enough.

These guys need to fight this damn thing with no worries about offending Islam or offending the communist left. The fact is they are offended just by us being who we are so to hell with it. This is going to simply drag on and on until people don't have the patience to see more being done.....and reasoning with these animals "AIN'T GONNA DO IT". Not only that, but the military is not the police. Military has to do what the military is designed to do.

Also, we need more people there or more action from our Air Force and Artillery. Plain and simple. Screw what it looks like politically. Fight to win. Bring back Shock and Awe!!!

We have killed thousands of terrorists and captured thousands more. That seems like "whupass" to me.

Do you skip to the last page of who-dunnits too?

It breaks my heart to see our soldiers dying in Iraq. This war was wrong from the beginning. Months leading up to the war Bush would make daily speechs about Iraq's WMD. He sent Colin Powell with "hard numbers" on WMD to sell his war to the UN. The CIA was given deliberately false testimony on WMD per Colin Powells own admission. There were some people trying to tell the CIA prior to the war that there wasn't any WMD. Some top officials in the CIA stated that they don't care if there is any or not we're going to war.

If we are trying to fight terrorism why did we not go after Saudi Arabia where 18 of the 19 hijackers came from. Can someone tell me why we didn't lean on North Korea more for having an illegal nuclear weapon and being threatened by their dictator? Oh thats right, we can handle that crisis through "diplomatic" means.

LOL...I spent more time over there than most troops!

I went to more places that did most troops...and I was unarmed!

And I was just a pogue! And I outranked most of the military there with my GS rating. How do you like that?

For some reason, the Navy, the USAF and the Army were all easy to deal with. But the USMC seemed to be extremely fixated on our paychecks and civilian status. Yep, they were jealous of us and resented us greatly.

Seems like you do too. lol...too bad.

The good thing about the Second Amendment is that it allows you to easily spot the idiots.

Have a nice day.

Don't believe the horse crap about no WMD's in Iraq.

They were training for offensive use of chemical weapons and I've been inside some of their training facilities and seen the training material myself.

If they like IEDs so much, why don't we give them a couple of million mines on the Syrian border.

Lay them so thick that the snakes will hesitate to cross.

BUMP

If you blame Bush for everything, you are a RAT!

I'll bet it's tough to keep enough ice at the koolaid stand in this weather!

I'll go toe to toe with you all night, hondo.

Outing myself? You come diddy bopping into a thread entitled "14 Marines killed in Iraq" and rag on the Corps? Who outed themselves as a bitter person with a score to settle?

And as for this:

"(at least I have my identity from my own exploits, not my son's or my father's or my spouse's)"

That is just pathetic. I wouldn't share a light with you, let alone anything about me.

Yep, I messed up on the Amendment.

Keep talking, hoss.

Thats 20 Marines, from the same unit, from the same area in Ohio. Has to be devastating for the families and the community.

I have been to Haditha and it has always has been a stronghold for extremest, time to clean that nest of roaches out. You can see the town from the Haditha Dam nearby. The Marines should line the tanks up on top the dam and blow that shit hole to hell.

Also, IMO we should stop pussyfooting around with these people planting IEDs. I read too many times where they are caught in the act and captured. They should be shot on the spot. Enough with this nice guy rules, especially when the other side has only one rule, kill our military.

You're right. It's worth noting that the whole "weapons of mass destruction" argument was never really behind the war in Iraq to begin with -- it was part of a very transparent propaganda campaign to garner public support for the war.

Sounds more like you got away with your crap with the Navy, AF and Army, but opps, your crap didn't fly with the USMC.

You just stated that you outranked people with your GS RATING. I gaaaaaarennnnteeee you that attitude will not stand with Marines. They will throw your big mouth and ego down in the sand and make you eat it.

14 Marines die and you come on this thread critize them. Wrong move.

I agree.

And it is important to remember that we still haven't lost the number that were murdered on 9/11.

And we've prevented (so far) another 9/11 or worse.

Compared to a WMD, this is a sad but necessary price to make sure a WMD sized death at a Rose Bowl doesn't happen.
