Roadside bomb in western Iraq.
What ever happened to the neutron bomb? Make Haditha an ex-city.
When a Freeper tries to justify the actions of this administration by claiming that something similar occurred "on Clinton's watch," then I think my cynicism is utterly vindicated.
How can we possibly expect people to believe any differently when this is precisely how our government has portrayed warfare ever since the first Gulf War (or even sooner -- in Grenada and Panama)?
It is the LACK OF ACTION during the Clinton Watch that we have all the problems that we have to face now. Thank God for George Bush! At least he has the backbone and the fortitude to do what is right. He does not care what the left and media think, he does what is right. Maybe if Clinton would have done his job instead of freeloading off of the American Taxpayer and getting his jollies in office, things would not have gotten to this point. But, again, he didn't think that we had any "CONTROLLING LEGAL AUTHORITY" to arrest BL.
Please pray for my brother. His name is Chris, he is in that area. He is on an amphibious assault vehicle crew with the reserve unit out of Gulfport, Ms.
If you can find any evidence to indicate that "we knew" anything of this sort, then present it here. Otherwise, there's nothing "factual" about what you've posted -- and saying that something is "self evident" does not make it factual.
Oh, they really are throwing you a poolside party, cool! I was just joking...
Nearly three years ago I was against the resolution of force. Some called me peacenic and other names. Not so. I was advocating a declaration of war instead of a resolution of force.
With a DoW the Congress cannot simply get weak kneed and political as they are now.
Also, with a DoW, Freepers cannot simpley get weak kneed and cower as they are now.
He is in my prayers as are all of our military over there
As for the source, I will work on that today at work. I saw a program on post war Germany and Japan. It was quite interesting the difference between how the U.S. dealt with the residual Nazis versus how the Russians dealt with them. If a Russian was killed in their sector, they rounded up a select number of local villagers and shot them. I'll see if I can find a link. I would like to read more on it.
Good article. After Tet of 68 and the loss of support back home and in congress, I went back to Vietnam for a second tour. Of course it was voluntary for me but it was as if I had gone to a different war in a different country. If I could describe the impression I had I would, but in a few words the overall attitude, even among the officers and senior NCOs, was, "Don't do anything to get others or yourself killed - it's over!"
I can almost feel the tension at the highest levels of The Pentagon after these last two days. I believe the administration needs to be looking for a different tactical and strategic direction. If it doesn't do this, the Republicans can probably kiss at least one house of congress goodbye in 06 and probably the White House in 08.
its not we cant - we wont
One thing I am fairly certain of is this . . . If the Clinton Administration had pursued this war in Iraq, I can guarantee you that 99% of the folks here on FreeRepublic (me being louder than anyone else) would have called for his impeachment once the U.S. casualty count exceeded about 25 soldiers.
We will pray for Cris and all our Bravest Fighting in Iraq.
I hope you hear from him soon. God bless you.
God Bless him and all those he serves with.
Good point....
We do realize the answer to your question is a resounding "NO."
While U.S. Armed Forces fight tooth and nail fighting and sacrificing as part of the so-called WoT, "making it over here" has been a mere matter of strolling into America over the Mexican border on a red carpet.
The Minutemen tried to do something about it, but were called "vigilantes."
Do we know just who may be "making it over here" since 9/11?
Could be ANYBODY. Even Terrorists. A lot of them.
...During the American Revolution, our rag-tag army fought for their own nation and for freedom. We were outclassed, but it was the desire and passion and leadership that won the Revolution for us. ...
Ok...
But the iraqis are not americans.
It was not their Indepence War.
It was the US-s war to get rid of an unfriendly regional power.
But it CAN turn into their Indepence War - for exactly the opposite effect.
You can not kick down the door and push down the freedom on peoples' throat halfway then expect them to swallow it and say thank you for it...
Done!
