Breaking News from CFRB 1010AM News Radio - Toronto
Airliner on fire on the ground at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). Unclear as to cause. Announcers asking for updates from motorists in the region on HWY 401. Report says great deal of smoke. I have to go into a meeting shortly but I'll listen for updates as long as I can.
Well put. Yet another reason for a Representative Republic and not direct democracy.
Decisions over whether to close an airport are still made by human beings, however.
That and continued VFR flight into IMC conditions, especially by non-instrument rated pilots, are the number one killers in general aviation, in my opinion. Airlines and military aviation are not exempt, even if all pilots are instrument rated.
Passenger on plane now speaking: landing delayed for 20 minutes. Pilot was saying because of storms we could not land on time. No light in plane as we were landing. Went into ravine. Flames. Opened the emergency doors to slide onto the countryside. A lot of panic. A lot of gas and smoke. Lots of flames. I actually, I don't know, don't know if everyone managed to get out of the plane.
I'm listening to a live feed from a Pittsburg station and a passenger said the same thing. Lights went out right before touching down.
I am battle-scarred but obviously you don't have to be. I probably have a phobia.
No wonder they crashed! They should have bought a new one, or considered leasing...
Good Lord, I couldn't imagine. Prayers for them all.
What the plane looked like before the lightening knocked out the fly by wire
Just the middle of it...[g]
I read a story the other day of how the producers selected the fuselage of the L1011 from the graveyard at Mojave and had it shipped to Hawaii for filming...
Airbus and wind shear seem to go together.
Oh really? Tell that to the crew of the L100 that crashed at DFW. My airline nearly lost a 737-300 due to windshear.
Windshear is gonna get any kind of plane that it hits, regardless of who makes it.
Ping.
CNN now has CTV interview with someone claiming to be a surviving passenger. French accent, name 'Olivier Dubos', said plane's power shut down right before landing, no lights 1 minute before crashing.
"You newbies know nothing about the history of plane 'crashes'..."
g*ddammit petro, see now i'm pissed!!!! i have had it!!!
I'M STILL A NEWBIE????? WHEN WILL IT END??? Ugh! Alright, well I guess i need to wait 8 yrs. and ramble nonsensically in a "freshly graduated electro-shock treatment" type manner....
(Note to self.... stay newbie, ponyboy...)
No power in airplane upon landing. Source: unnamed passenger on plane.
I have no idea. Never heard of it. But from the apparent good news so far, the show Survivor seems apropo.

Idiot interviewer just said to him "welcome to Canada".
