I wonder how many parents send their kids on these excursions and then demand that they have single sex dorms at their colleges......
sometimes we parents say one thing, and then support an entirely differant thing if its the "cool" thing or the "chic" thing to do, or if other parents are allowing it......sad...

I just can see the kidnap angle. This country cannot afford to have numerous tourist kidnappings. The international drug and money laundering is a different story.

Tall guys! At age 15 I kissed the first boy I ever kissed. I was 5'4 and felt so over tall because I got that height when I was like 10 and gawked over everyone. The boy was 6'4 and two years older.
I don't know about yall but it was the best kiss of my life. He was so tall, I felt dainty and petite and my knees went weak, really, just like in romance novels. He passed me by with a single kiss and my heart was broken. To this day, nearly fifty years later, I remember it. And Elvis Pressley was singing the flip side of HeartBreak Hotel in the background,,I think the song was I was the One. I met him at Baptist Training Union and have been forever grateful for Baptists ever since. He is now a fireman!

Do you think they have been to the Hampton's to see the hottest of the hottest? I think in social upward mobilty, possibily upper working class families at the most.
I myself fail to see any significant emotional(as you do) trauma associated by this group who lost a good friend under these type circumstances.
I sum it up as the me, myself and I philosophy ingrained in their thinking motors. The term friend or good friend has morphed into a lackadaisical apathetic allusion to what it used to be in life.
In America, a friend will help you move, but in Aruba a fiend will help you move a body and perpetuate a lie.

Now there's a case! I think it was a travesty! Remember when highly regarded crime artists came in to draw a rendering of the perp since Elizabeth's little sister SAW HIM. And the family would not allow the drawing to be released to the media. I remember the hooplah around this.
I believe the family, having seen the drawing knew it was a Mormon fundamentalist and quashed it knowing it would bring disgrace on Mormons and that Elizabeth was gone but probably not dead.
Then she shows up in SLC walking freely with her captors even though she could have, but didn't, leave.
Now, we will never hear this trial as the perps have been very conveniently determined to be "mentally incompetent".
We'll never hear from Elizabeth as to why she calmly got her shoes and walked out of the house with him ... even stopping to use the bathroom.This case reveals the worst of SLC IMO.
