Why, if that money weren't taken from us, we might spend it or invest it unwisely ... thereby wasting it. Or maybe invest it. I wonder how much interest a single person earning $70,000 per year could make if he put that money into even a savings accout every month.

Kind of reminds me of the list of grievances in the Declaration of Independence.Yes it does. DC has become the ghost of King George III.

Great post, have to agree with others though, that the NEA should be there somewhere.

Pretty good list. Kind of overwhelming to see it all in one place.
Any GOP leader would be a hero for life if he/she got rid of any one of these.

Thanks so much for the positive feed back.
Is the National Education Agency, a government program?
Perhaps that is why it is not on the list.
I didn't make the list, I am just posting to the choir! I Do benefit from Social Security Disability, through my wife.
But I would not have to if the rest of the programs on the list were sucking me dry!

The Post Office? What's wrong with the postal service?!? FOr 37 cents I can get a letter anywhere in the US. The benefits to the economy from a functioning postal service must far outweigh any gov subsidy for it. It'd be awfully expensive to replace this with private couriers, eh?

Dishonorable Mention
These programs were nominated by at least one judge and received votes from at least two.
Title IX (banning discrimination by sex in education programs, including athletics)
Score: 49 You may like the post office, but it is not keeping up and costing more each day to continue. Is not email cutting into its profits?
Plus this article lists the nominated programs by one or more judges.

I think part of the problem is that they hold a monopoly and don't allow competition.
Why shouldn't UPS or FedEx be able to deliver letters? How could they possibly hurt the USPS since 1)the USPS pays no corporate tax, 2)pays no property taxes or rent (in most cases), and 3)they also do no pay to license their vehicles.
If the USPS was run efficiently, then there would be no reason to bar private companies from competing with them.
