Congressional Democrats yesterday called President Bush's recess appointment of John R. Bolton as U.N. ambassador an "abuse of power," but said any ill will would not affect the prospects of his Supreme Court nominee, Judge John G. Roberts Jr. "Each nomination's unique," said Rebecca Kirszner, a spokeswoman for Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat. "The willingness of the White House to allow Congress to perform its duty is certainly a factor for all nominations.
"The Roberts nomination will be judged on its own merits," she said.
Sen. Edward M. (Lard Ass) Kennedy, the Massachusetts Democrat who is expected to help lead his party's opposition to Judge Roberts, called Mr. Bush's recess appointment "shameful and irresponsible" and lamented that the "cloak of secrecy from the White House continues."

It's going to really eat at Kennedy and the rest of 'em when Bolton becomes one of the most popular figures in the country (after he brings his no-nonsense attitude to the criminal-infested UN).
Mr. Kennedy said. "It's even worse for the administration to abuse the recess appointment power by making the appointment while Congress is in this five-week recess."
More gems from Lard Ass: how can the administration "abuse" the recess appointment power by making an appoint during the Congressional - wait for it - RECESS?
Roberts is going to be confirmed without much fuss. It is a done deal. All the tea leaves point in that direction. Leahy today ruled out delaying tactics. The Dems know making a fuss over this one is a political loser, unless something really unexpected happens.
And .. did you hear .. somebody on FOX was talking about the fact that it was Condi who wanted Bolton in the UN .. and it seems that even in the short time Condi has been at the State Dept - she has already whipped the place into shape - it's now a department which supports the policies of the President. I bet the Clinton leftovers are seething.
WOW! I'm impressed. I think Condi is one of the sharpest ladies I've ever known and I'm glad to see the President's confidence in her is well vested.
The fact that they're seething bring me joy, but I'd like it even better if they were canned.
Condi is indeed highly impressive. ....the most impressive Sec. of State since George P. Schultz.
"she has already whipped the place into shape - it's now a department which supports the policies of the President. I bet the Clinton leftovers are seething."
Hopefully, Porter Goss is doing the same at the CIA.
Now, if we could just get Minetta out of Transportation....
They know (or finally realized) that they can't stonewall and filibuster everything - - I think they're saving all of their wrath, filbusters, and foul words for the next SCJ appointment - probably Renquist - possibly one of the others. I've heard/read that Ginsburg is in poor health. If she retires they are going to DEMAND another leftie and/or ACLU type in there - - then the battle will really begin.
If Bolton had been the Massachusetts attorney general, Kennedy's lard ass would still be in jail.
It's not really brilliant to alter the next of an article. Post it, then comment afterwards.
"the next of an article"?
Are they admitting an anger problem?
"The willingness of the White House to allow Congress to perform its duty is certainly a factor for all nominations.
What about the unwillingness of the Senate to do the same? Notice how the Senate Democrats hide behind the euphemism "Congress"?

They walk around in a blind rage all the time anyway, ready to direct it at everything and everyone related to Republicans and the Constitution.
You're not suggesting Dems don't think straight? LOL!
If Kennedy leads the interrogation of Roberts I think the latter should slip in the term "Oldsmobile" into every other third. If challeneged, Roberts can just say it must be tied to something in the past that made quite an impression on him and he knows the Senators want to know what formative things infuenced him in the past.
Sorry--- meant every other or every third answer.
THANK G_D CLINTON NEVER DID THIS!!!
Or else Thud Killedy would be a huge hypocrite.
And he could mention lakes.
And drowning.
And involuntary manslaughter.
Example:
Kennedy: Mr. Roberts, I will not vote to confirm you unless I know your views on abortion.
Roberts: Well, Senator, I was thinking about this very question as I was watching an Oldsmobile careening out of control near a lake, and I thought to myself, wouldn't a fetus feel like it was drowning if it was aborted? Isn't that almost involuntary manslaughter?
ROTFLMAO!!
*SCREEEEEE!!*
This is all bluster. Betcha there won't be a roll call vote...It'll be a voice vote.
