XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN JULY 31, 2005 19:44:05 ET XXXXX

BUSH EXERCISES 6X A WEEK; 'MOST-FIT' PRESIDENT IN HISTORY

President Bush turned 59 years old this month and his health is in the "superior" fitness category for men his age -- greater than 99% percentile for 55-59 year-old men!

The latest health results make Bush the "most-fit" president in modern history.

He has not had a sick day in the past year -- and he works out 6 days a week: Workouts include bicycling (15-20 miles, 15-18mph), treadmill (low impact "hill-work"), elliptical trainer, free weight resistance training, and stretching.

The President takes a daily multi-vitamin, low-dose aspirin, glucosamine/chondroitin, and an omega 3 supplement.

Bush Weight: 191 pounds(last year 199)

Body Composition: Body fat 15.79% (last year 18.25%; normal for age 16.5-20.5%)

Resting heart rate (seated): 47 bpm

Resting blood pressure (seated): 110/64

Uncompensated (uncorrected) distant visual acuity was 20/20 in both eyes. Corrected near visual acuity was 20/20 in both eyes (the President uses reading glasses as needed).

Bush does suffer from gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), with well-defined triggers (e.g. coffee, peppermint).

Personally, I would advise teenage girls who find a 59 year old man attractive enough to put on the wall, to seek therapy, and lots of it. There is a reason why teenage girls all fall over girly-looking teenage boys like Jesse McCartney (present era crush of my 11 year old) or Leif Garret who my wife apparently liked when dinosaurs ruled the earth.

I'm all for fitness, but how do you think it helps in negotiating?

We've had freepers who've been absolutely horrified that Bush mountain bikes. One lamented endlessly that he should ride horses instead, not grokking that horseback riding is only aerobic to the horse.

... 'MOST-FIT' PRESIDENT IN HISTORY

It's Bush's fault ...

I find the timing suspicious...

I thought that was a little high given his activity, too.

You have to understand that Lance Armstrong is 25 years younger than Bush.

I think it helps in negotiations because a fit, strong man has a more physically imposing, not to say intimidating, presence when in the company of other world leaders.

It engenders respect. Deep down we're all still kids on the playground and they sense that they wouldn't want to tussle with him.

It's symbolic. He's got the biggest muscles of the world leaders, and he's got the biggest muscles of all the world militaries.

It's a nuance. Teddy Roosevelt would approve greatly. The b-rats say they like nuance. They should love this.

They report a higher body fat last year.

That is because of the injury. He told Hune about it in an interview.

He had an injury and could not go running. So he had to slow his workout way down.

Looks like he is back up and running.

Interesting theory, but I personally don't think it holds water. I wouldn't want to face maggie Thatcher across the negotiating table.

I believe if I had a personal chef at my beckon call I'd probably have a body fat index higher than expected for that level of training.

This 59 yr old man is making me feel like a "piker" and I'm 10 yrs younger than he is.

I'm also short (5') and weigh 199lbs.

I need to get on President Bush's regiment!
