A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I received this in my email June 10th, the author is unknown. I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

Jump for Jellybeans Day
I never jumped for jellybeans,
I doubt I ever will.
Though I have tried to move quickly,
If any I should spill.
Im sure the pets would love it,
To leave them lying there,
But theyll just have to find their own,
Im not inclined to share.
I never tried the portraits,
One sees in candy art.
Any artwork I might do,
Would likely come apart,
As passersby would sample it,
To get a taste, you see.
Before a week might run its course,
Blank canvas I would see.
So I just munch the candies down,
The only art I know,
Lies in the sampling that I do,
To even out the flow.
You shouldnt eat your favorites,
And leave the others there,
Unless you have more than enough,
So that you might just share.

My foot is getting better, slow process due to the fact that I have been working on it everyday.
I sit and rest when ever I can with my foot up.
This morning the swelling is down but it is still uncomfortable.

Good thing it is NOT Oleo or Margarine day (emailed this to some of you)
@@@
DO YOU KNOW...the difference between margarine and butter?
Read on to the end...gets very interesting!
Both have the same amount of calories.
Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams.
Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.
Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods.
Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few only because they are added!
Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years.
And now, for Margarine..
Very high in trans fatty acids..
.
Triple risk of coronary heart disease..
Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol)
Lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)
Increases the risk of cancers by up to five fold...
Lowers quality of breast milk...
Decreases immune response.
Decreases insulin response.
HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING!
Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC...
This fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added to the molecular structure of the substance).
YOU can try this yourself: purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area.
Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things: no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something) .
it does not rot or smell differently...because it has no nutritional value, nothing will grow on it...even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic.
Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?

Okay Mr TG.. I LOVE THE PIX.. but ...is there a hidden message for me - not that I am paranoid or anything -
Where we live we have lots of canadian geese & various ducks & they do take their time & waddle across streets & all traffic stops for them

quite an ambitious project Rus.. should keep you off the streets for a few weeks! Hope it doesn't cut too badly into the campaign. Unless you have rich backers like soros, you do have to work to support life/campaigns.
Still can't get into server. Computers & Cars. So very nice when working. Such a pain (net nanny censored) when they do not.

you post the most scrumptious things Eleanor. If I made all you post (and ate it all, which I would) I would be VERY large indeed.
I cannot post the shirt etc yet.Cant get into server. Maybe the difficulty will be resolved for your Dose post tomorrow.
I love the shirt. Will NOT each Italian food or have red wine when I wear it. Kluzt a day would have it polka dotted in no time

Oh, gosh. :( I use real butter for baking, but thought we were being good to use "I Can't Believe it's not Butter" for toast, and baked potatoes and stuff. :(

This is the wrong post number to respond to your pictures of the remodel you're doing, but I'm so glad you showed us your work again. (I say again, because I still have the log cabin picture in my head - you were even flying your flag during construction.) :)
Hate you can't stay off your foot until the pain and swelling is gone - it's probably making it take much longer because you *can't* rest more. :(

nope. I use butter, canola oil & olive oil exclusively for cooking etc. NO artificial anythings or artifically colored in this house( well, except my hair color),
Need to catch a few zzzss before I go out tonight. Not much sleep lately (2.5 hours last night) . Other things take priority lately it seems
(now billie, be nice to Colonial Warrior)...you put him in corner last week ON THE FIRST DAY HE VISITED WITH US. Remember he is a marine & marines think "big". He will just do a bit of an adjustment for us, I am sure. :-)
Later Billie all

Cool graphic you've presented to
The Finest...I may be mistaken, but I believe that "The Average Military Man" is from Col. Oliver North.
He was a featured guest at one of our city's 9-11 commemorative services. He presented the same or similar text during his speech before the crowd at the local baseball stadium.
Enjoying a lazy Sunday afternoon. We're shooting for 100 degree temps again today. Still trying to decide whether to attend the County Fair tonight.
In the meantime, think I'll have some jelly beans to aid the thinking process. Mine are Red, White and Blue - The Americana Mix.
Welcome Home Amy and Mama Bear!!!
