First vanity after more about 2 years.
One question:
When it comes to dealing with a very difficult civilization; in terms of the values we hold most dear as a civilization with a Judeo-Christian tradition. Should we not ask ourselves, when we feel mildly threatened - "What would God do?"

Why not? I had a dream shower with you last night,
it was fun, at least until Jane Fonda showed up with
that vegetable oil, then it got all swirly, with the
little men in pointed hats and the walls Wayyy Yeaaaa!!

ROTFLMBO! That was
hysterically funny.
I have a few minutes to spare. I think I'll sit here and count how many ignoramuses type a response to something without including the original reply, thereby making everyone in the world who's reading make an instant judgment call as to whether or not the inane response is worth the trip back up the thread to see what the hell he's laughing about.
You know, kinda like I just did up there. :-)

If we all want to avoid a war of incomprehensible destructiveness, we are going to need to learn to work with them to share the resources and discover how to keep making ourselves richer while using a sustainable amount ... Am I understanding you correctly when I believe you mean that we should just shut up and fork over what we have created/grown or be killed?
"Richer"? In what way?
"Sustainable amount"? Use the bare minimum and fork the rest over the those who demand it from us?

Should we not ask ourselves, when we feel mildly threatened - "What would God do?" He'd probably say ... "you're big boys now, deal with it as you see fit."

Oh, crud. This might mean a shower and a leisurely bubble bath. Don't forget the trip to the beauty shop. :)
All I can say in answer to the question is, You remember this guy named Korah in Numbers?

If God wants to act, he will. Historically, He did some of the direct smite thing & He also did some of the empowering enemies thing. We are not God & we do not have His power, so it would be foolish to ask what God would do & act on whatever we came up in answer to that question.
I have a feeling you didn't ask the question as directly as you wanted. There is a long standing Judeo-Christian tradition of "just war" & much has been written about it. I believe the answer to the bigger question would be found by doing some research into that area.
BTW, what is the difference between a "mild" threat and a "strong" threat, if it can be presumed that both are real threats, as opposed to a perceived threat?

Should we not ask ourselves, when we feel mildly threatened - "What would God do?" Since GOD cannot be threatened in any real or meaningful sense, I would submit that the question we should ask ourself would be, " What would GOD have us to do?", when we feel threatened.

Have you ever wondered what it must have been like back in the 1800s when the pioneer people didn't take showers every day and wore their clothes dozens of times without washing them?
And have you ever added that little tidbit of knowledge to the fact that the "typical" family consisted of 10 or more kids?
That's just disgusting. Does that mean they took about 10 baths a year? 'Cause I wouldn't let a man come NEAR me if he had smelly 'pits. I wouldn't care if he WAS my betrothed.
To: Einigkeit_Recht_Freiheit
Good question. Noah's Flood, and Saddam (sic) and Gomorrah come to mind...
