Senate Democrats want to draw out the confirmation of federal Judge John G. Roberts Jr. to the Supreme Court as long as possible, but they expressed little hope that they can prevent him from reaching the high court.
The White House has called for hearings to begin in late August, according to Judiciary Committee sources, while the panel's Democrats want to postpone them until September to give them and their supporters time to build a complete dossier on Judge Roberts.

The Party of No raises it's ugly head.

Republicans are running the Judiciary committee, so give them the same amount of time that Republicans had for Ginsberg and no more.

Republicans on the Judiciary Committee as well as Frist and the so-called "leadership" need to run a no-retreat, no-surrender on this. I know, I know, I'm dreaming. Geez

This is the same strategy as Bolton. The white house needs to recognize and deal with it NOW.

And who heads the Judiciary Committee? With dear Arlen at the helm, we're likely to get a confirmation in September. That's September 2006.

All the Democrats can do is delay. They have yet to offer a principled and substantiative reason why the Senate should not confirm John G. Roberts for the bench.

Democrats need more time to dig up dirt. Going through personal files and interviewing all the people connected to Roberts via six degrees of Kevin Bacon not only takes time and money, but it works up a hearty appetite, too.

McCarthyism on parade. The McCarthyists in the 'RAT party aren't making Americans very happy. I hope they keep up their sophomoric antics. Americans are watching.

The hearings will begin the first week of September and we HAVE the votes to bring him to the floor, no matter whether THEY try to delay or not.
