Ex-CIA Accuse Bush of Manipulating Iraq Evidence
Monday, March 17, 2003
WASHINGTON Invoking
the name of a Pentagon whistle-blower, a small group of retired, anti-war CIA officers are accusing the Bush administration of manipulating evidence against Iraq in order to push war while burying evidence that could show Iraq's compliance with U.N demands for disarmament.
The 25-member group, Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, composed mostly of former CIA analysts along with a few operational agents, is urging employees inside the intelligence agency to break the law and leak any information they have that could show the Bush administration is engineering the release of evidence to match its penchant for war.
VIPS member Ray McGovern, a 27-year CIA veteran who gave intelligence briefings to top Reagan officials before retiring in 1990, said the administration has not made the case that Iraq has ties to Al Qaeda and is providing information that does not meet an intelligence professional's standard of proof.
"It's been cooked to a recipe, and the recipe is high policy," McGovern said. "That's why a lot of my former colleagues are holding their noses these days."
But the CIA said McGovern doesn't have any authority to speak of the quality of intelligence policy-makers are reviewing.
"He left the agency over a decade ago," spokesman Mark Mansfield said. "He's hardly in a position to comment knowledgeably on that subject."
VIPS say their appeals to CIA staff are an attempt to evoke another Daniel Ellsberg, who leaked the Pentagon Papers, a top-secret study on U.S. involvement in Vietnam.
Leaking classified national defense information is illegal, and CIA officers, who take a secrecy oath when they join could lose their security clearances or jobs, and may even face prosecution...

I'm actually glad it was a typo and the press release if from January 2004. It works better with this timeline:
Wilson Didn't Complain About "The 16 Words" Until He Was Working On Kerry Campaign
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1445574/posts
Wilson may have even told Kerry and staff that he really had some goods on Bush and his wife could verify everything being that she works on WMD in the CIA. This was verified by Kerry then Kerry hired Wilson. While Wilson was blabbing to the MSM, someone in Kerry's campaign was telling the MSM that everything Wilson said was true because his wife worked on WMD in the CIA.
All roads point to Wilson being the one who blabbed his wife's employment status to anyone he thought could get him a job.
I strongly suspect Wilson told the reporters he was pitching his story to--and the Kerry camp--that his wife was with the CIA WMD section--to enhance his credibility.
Sorry, all, I should have caught the typo in that PR (remarkably enough, it appears on John 'Vichy' Kerry's own press release!). Clearly the event was in Jan. 2004, not 2003, as the primary campaign heated up in NH.
Still, everything else is relevant about the 'interesting' players that keep intersecting on this and some other stories. I do not believe I am usually partial to tin-foil theories, but I'll bet that if someone could have recorded conversations among Joe Wilson, Valeria Plame, Rand Beers, David Corn, Richard Clarke, Ray McGovern, Sandy Burglar, the VIPS crowd, and the MSM reporters who have parroted their talking points, it would blow the Democratic Party out of the water for many years to come.
These people have been up to NO GOOD. Clearly they decided after the Iraq War, if not before, that they could work together behind the scenes to orchestrate an all-out assault on the Bush administration, using Joe Wilson's attack on the Niger uranium story as a starting point.
As it is, we have to settle for piecing together the various intersecting pieces of this puzzle from public sources.... would be great if the Special Prosecutor were pursuing any of these people, but I'm not holding my breath.
An FBI profiler would conclude the same thing about Wilson.
Of this I am almost certain.
I agree 100% but being that he played politics with Kerry then I also have to assume that someone in Kerry's camp knew about his wife and may have told the MSM. I would like to see the GJ call everyone that even had contacts with Wilson, Everyone
Right you are..... and I strongly suspect that is why Judith Miller is sitting in jail rather than reveal Joe Wilson as a source.... probably the source that told her of Valerie Plame's work.... it would blow the assault on the WH right out of the water if it were seen the extent to which Joe Wilson has orchestrated this whole fraud with various MSM reporters.... either Wilson himself or his surrogate(s).
Sure, but please see my #419 for correction in the date - John 'Vichy' Kerry's own PR mistakenly says '2003' at the top when it should have been '2004' (correct date is at the bottom).
Duhhhh.... last try and then I will shut up for awhile. My post correcting my own previous post was #425.... trying to do several things at once today and none of them well!!
Thank you. Got it, a correction on the date. Thanks.
Thanks for the ping ... a prime example of just why *dirty tricks* is so very dangerous, not "good strategy" or "clever" or "masterful pollitician" stuff. Secrets leaked will not "harm Bush" -- they will put this nation into peril, maybe not today, but certainly at some time in the future. At some point, this cr** needs to stop.
Like I have mentioned before, it was Chris Lehane that Wilson met with in May of that year, who asked him to join the Kerry campaign. It was also Lehane who shopped the story to media and set up the article in Vanity Faire and the the NYT article. The story had received little attention prior to the hook up with Chris Lehane, the infamous Democrat dirty trickster. This whole campaign has the look of a typical Lehane project.
The Kansas City Chiefs. At the least the good Larry Johnson is.
btw, anyone remember the "Restore Honesty" website that appeared for a few weeks during the 2004 campaign??? It was a venue to promote Joe Wilson's fraudulent claims - then, when his story was falling apart, it suddenly disappeared from the web and the Kerry campaign dropped him like a hot potato..... BUT, that URL was and is registered by "Friends of John Kerry"!!!
Does anyone know how to find out when that URL was first created/registered?? I looked it up right now on register.com but it only shows when it was last re-registered, in Oct. 2004, still for "Friends of John Kerry."
If you try to go to www.restorehonesty.com it takes you to a page still owned by the John Kerry campaign!! Wilson and the 'Rats were in this thing deep, but can we determine when they first started actively working together?

I agree.
I agree. I would love to see him exposed.
It's time to start arresting traitors.
"As the destroyer Cole was being hauled around the Cape of Good Hope to its home port of Norfolk, Va., and amid the ruckus of the elections, a remarkable piece of intelligence dropped into the public's knowledge about international terrorism. It has drawn little notice yet, but it will likely cause the new administration to reassess American policy and search for a better formula for combating terrorism than launching a few cruise missiles at camps in Afghanistan or pharmaceutical plants in Sudan.
On Oct. 20, the Federal District Court in Manhattan accepted a guilty plea from Ali A. Mohamed, a former Green Beret sergeant and one of six men indicted for the bombings of American embassies in Africa in 1998. Mr. Mohamed not only confessed that he had taken part in a conspiracy to murder American citizens in Saudi Arabia and East Africa, but tied the assaults directly to the Saudi exile Osama bin Laden. Significantly, his confession also linked Mr. bin Laden with another terrorist at large -- the mysterious Hezbollah security chief, Imad Mughniyah. "
Interestingly, a few months before the USS Cole was bombed, the same two (Johnson and Bearden) had written an article talking about how the terrorist threat was exaggerated.
In October 2002, Larry Johnson wrote several articles that appeared in various papers around the country and that talked about how an American invasion in Iraq would cause the entire Muslim world to hate us. He described someone (him maybe) visiting Iraq and how they all (Iraqis) hate the Bushes.
