Hispanic, Islamic Groups Want Tancredo Out
By STEVEN K. PAULSON
Associated Press Writer
Hispanic and Islamic groups called on Rep. Tom Tancredo to resign Monday, saying he has embarrassed Colorado by suggesting bombing Islamic holy sites if terrorists launch a nuclear attack on the U.S.
They also criticized the GOP congressman's staunch advocacy of tougher immigration controls.
"Enough is enough. We're here to say 'Stop,'" Hispanic activist Manolo Gonzalez-Estay told a crowd of about 200 at the state Capitol.
Abdur-Rahim Ali, imam of a Muslim shrine in Denver, said Tancredo's statement that "you could take out" Islamic holy sites in a retaliatory attack was unacceptable.
"What would happen if a prominent Muslim made that statement about Catholic holy places like the Vatican?" asked Ali.
Tancredo was traveling and unavailable for comment. His spokesman, Will Adams, said the four-term congressman has no intention of apologizing or resigning.
"They are a lot more upset about what he stands for, our nation's security and border policy, than anything else," Adams said.
Not true.
The oil would be unaffected.
Just like if nuclear fallout were to land on packaged food. It would be exposed, but not contaminated.
The oil is so far underground as to not be affected by the radiation.
The part about the kill zone being uninhabitable for 300 years is also hyperbole. Look at Las Vegas. Right beside major nuclear test zones - in fact the USA tested some 1030 nuclear weapons - most of them near Las Vegas. Yet it's less than 60 years after the first blast and Las Vegas is inhabitable. No problemo.
Now if we used neutron weapons, it would be immediately inhabitable to boot.
Just sweep up the ashes and Mecca would make a great bowling alley.
Well, the Islamic groups, open border, illegal alien supporters, and assorted anti-American's agree with you.
Not nearly as badly as it would haunt his opponent!
I would love to hear the response when asked the identical "gotcha" question!
====================
Why should he care if this comes back to "haunt him in a debate"? If he has the guts to say it, he has the guts to defens his position in any debate. Many of us would welcome an open debate on this issue.
For example, Hiroshima continued to run the trolley system even the same day as the detonation. People began to reenter the area of total devastation almost immediately. Aside from those who got a fatal dose or near-fatal dose from the detonation itself, severe health effects from the fallout were limited. The height of the detonation above the ground is the major determinant of the amount of fallout.
Exactly, we should encourage these clowns to keep mouthing off, it almost guarantees he'll be re-elected. It might even mean a boost for any presidential run.
Enough!
The areas of vitrification would not be the oilfields. There would be little point to wasting a nuke explosive device on an oilfield, although a retreating enemy might torch their own oilfield to deny its use. It would take a year or two to bring the oilfield back to production.
And it looks like we have two more really great reasons to vote for the man.
Work for me.
Well if it were China or North Korea the answer would be simple. Nuke them back x100. But if they are a group of terrorists who do not represent a nation nor a legitimate religion (as they have hijacked a religion) sadly, there is not much we can do as far as using our nukes go UNLESS we were to nuke the country of origin from which the nukes came be it North Korea, Pakistan, China or Russia. Nuking Mecca would not solve the problem but may actually increase the ranks of the terrorists willing to bring more nukes into our nation. I know that sounds like a liberal theory but really I'm not one of those who thinks fighting terror creates more terror. If we are nuked and we were going to use nukes in return...then I would suggest nuking the country from which they came from. And what if they were stolen?
Perhaps we should focus more on Iran, North Korea and China when it comes to retaliating against a nuke attack. Then....what if the bomb was made right here in a bathtub in the USA...do we nuke ourselves?
Let's not forget folks....just before 911 our greatest fear was that an American Teen would build one and set it off somewhere in the USA. It was a matter of 'when' and not 'if'. So, decades from now, if the war against islamofascist terrorism is won we are still back to that "greatest fear of the 90s"...A Columbine Nuclear Teen.
Thanks for the memory jog. I had forgotten that chapter of US-Mexico relations.
Alas, I fear that perhaps only 3 or so other Freepers have even heard of Barbara Tuchman
Haunted by whom?
The political "in" crowd? The politically correct crowd? The business as usual at any cost crowd?
That's true. The point would be by nature a strong one.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend
-Muslim proverb
When one is trying to get rid of stinging hornets one does not stick his head into the nest and yell "I hate you." Well maybe Tancredo would and the mind numbed who believe him to be a good conservative. But SMART people handle such things in a SMART way.
We have lots of Islamics helping us in many places across the globe who are paying a dear price for their assistance to the Infidel. But, hey, why don't we just insult them like Loud Mouth did? Why don't we just piss on the graves of the thousands who died at the hands of the Islamaniacs and act as though they are no better than their killers?
Brilliant.
Only when I am reading Barbara Tuchman books.
" But SMART people handle such things in a SMART way. "
And what 'Smart way' would you use to handle people that NUKED a U.S. city and killed millions?
Hmm?
You did know that Hiroshima and Nagasaki can't be lived in for still... an additional 250 years?
By the way, did I mention that Tancredo gave the islamofascists propaganda talking points?
