In a recent essay in the NYT Book Review of John F. Harris's The Survivor: Bill Clinton in the White House, Alan Ehrenhalt speculated about the reasons Clinton was so disliked. This sparked a rigorous debate on Richard Jensen's list, ConservativeNet. Below, a sampling of opinion.
Alan Ehrenhalt's Review
Millions of Americans despise Bill Clinton. They have done so since he became a presence in national politics in the early 1990's, and they continue to do so today, more than four years after his retirement from public office.

I don't
hate Slick Willie.
What I hate is what a third rate con-man and his communist wife did to damage the USA internationally, and the damage he did to the Presidency.

I for one never hated president Clinton; just felt his presidency was a lost opportunity. The man was afraid to make a tough decision; fear crippled him at times.
Instead of leading and dictating world events he choose to react to them as they occurred.
Too bad; given his abilities he could have been more than mediocre.....IMHO

Because he was and is so corrupt. Very simple.

I guess I do despise him. Mainly because he was such an evil man and his wife is even more evil.

Make sure to read the commentary down from the article at the source site. It's really good.

I don't hate him however he did a great deal of harm to this country. We are in this current war because of his actions while in office and China is now a huge threat rather then the rather moderate one it was when he took office.
However I do despise Jimmy Carter. For many of the same reasons come to think of it. And the fact that he is a dictator cuddling commie.

I love the guy now. On an almost daily basis he reminds Americans what it would be like if there were another Clinton Administration. Don't change a thing Bill.
To: johnny7
I can not say that I "hated" Clinton, but I did think he was a bad president, maybe not quite as bad as Carter.
Clinton was very fortunate to ride on the Internet boom.
My problem with Clinton is that everything with the man, then and now, is that it is all about himself.
He could be the most self centered man in history.
Being president, to him, was just a tool to get fame and fortune. It was never about the welfare of the nation, a 24/7 job.
It is hard to calculate just how much damage he did to this country, but I would think it is considerable.

He's evil. The only president with a body count. Think about that. Rape is not his worst crime by far.

Liberals sell their souls for votes. That is what he did. He gave it up for gays and blacks who clearly hate whites, for femanists who hate men, for abortionists and those that would manipulate foolish women into thinking their babies are choices. He gave it up for every group of people that wanted a raise from their boss no matter how many people around the world are willing to do the same work for a tenth as much. After collecting such a gaggle of persons and not winning a majority of votes, he and they seemed to be in our face for the next 8 years with everything they did.

It's not hate. I feel very much the same way as many in this thread.
Clinton was a con artist. He brought the presidency to a new low. After making fun of Bush Sr. for his misstep on the 'no new taxes' thing, Clinton goes before the people and wags his finger: " I did not have sex with that woman"
He lied under oath. He raised taxes. He sold technology to the Chinese for campaign contributions. His wife attempted to force Hillarycare on us. He as impeached, for goodness sakes. In fact, he represents to conservatives what Nixon represents to liberals.
It's not hate. I'm must happy to see him out of the White House.

Bump for your comment. Just ask the family of Luther 'Jerry' Parks and many others.
The colossal tragedy is that the fourth estate could not, would not see and tell the truth about him. (Other than a precious few such as Ambrose Evans Pritchard.) They still won't. And most Americans don't have a clue about the pathological creature he really is.

Agreed. The man had a lot of abilites but he was more worried about being liked than doing the right thing.

Can't apply so strong a word as "hate..." detest, maybe, and even so it took about a year of him in office to realize just how badly America had allowed itself to be conned.
