This proves the recent London bombings are not due to U.K. participation in the Iraq War.

These planned airplane hijack bombings of London, New Dehli, and Australia on 9/11/01 did not occur because the participants saw the increased security just hours after the attack on the WTC on 9/11 and did not board the flights they had tickets for.

Mohammed Afroze was sentenced to seven years after he admitted that he had a role in an al-Qaeda plot to attack London, the Rialto Towers building in Melbourne and the Indian Parliament.

Afroze admitted that he and seven al-Qaeda operatives planned to hijack aircraft at Heathrow and fly them into the two London landmarks. The suicide squad included men from Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan, Afroze said. They booked seats on two Manchester-bound flights, but fled just before they were due to board.

You may recall that there was an suicide bombers and machine guns attack on India's Parliament after this planned 9/11 hijacking failed.

Some members of Parliament were killed, IIRC, as well as their security people in a firefight, much like the time the Puerto Ricans attacked our White House during President Tuman's administration and shot it out with our Secret Service.

I believe that the aborted 9/11 plots came to light during the investigation of this attack on India's Parliament.

Most "jihadists" get cold feet and wind up doing something besides suicide. That's why such people have their hands tied to the steering wheels of car bombs...or why their handlers detonate their backpack bombs for them.

It also points to one of many weaknesses of Al Qaeda's decentralized cell structure; timing. The U.S. attacks were to be supported by the Al Qaeda suicide squads in Australia, Britain, and India...but they didn't know the precise details of the U.S. ops...so they were late enough to the party that they encountered tighter security in the UK, Australia, and India that had a hand in thwarting all of those attacks.

Not 9/11/2001, but 1993. At least one Iraqi Intel Agent from Hussein's government was caught and convicted in their 1993 bombing attack on the World Trade Centers in NYC.

At least one other 1993 WTC Iraqi Intel Agent made it back to Iraq and was captured there during our 2003 invasion.

Links between al Qaeda/bin Laden and Saddam/Iraqi Intelligence are in the footnotes of the 9/11 Commission Report.

I don't know if you'd call training al Qaida members how to hijack a plane a link, but Saddam did that.

Iraqi intelligence was linked to the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.

Terrorist behind September 11 strike was trained by Saddam

Iraq's coalition government claims that it has uncovered documentary proof that Mohammed Atta, the al-Qaeda mastermind of the September 11 attacks against the US, was trained in Baghdad by Abu Nidal, the notorious Palestinian terrorist.

Details of Atta's visit to the Iraqi capital in the summer of 2001, just weeks before he launched the most devastating terrorist attack in US history, are contained in a top secret memo written to Saddam Hussein, the then Iraqi president, by Tahir Jalil Habbush al-Tikriti, the former head of the Iraqi Intelligence Service.

The handwritten memo, a copy of which has been obtained exclusively by the Telegraph, is dated July 1, 2001 and provides a short resume of a three-day "work programme" Atta had undertaken at Abu Nidal's base in Baghdad.

In the memo, Habbush reports that Atta "displayed extraordinary effort" and demonstrated his ability to lead the team that would be "responsible for attacking the targets that we have agreed to destroy".

The second part of the memo, which is headed "Niger Shipment", contains a report about an unspecified shipment - believed to be uranium - that it says has been transported to Iraq via Libya and Syria.

Although Iraqi officials refused to disclose how and where they had obtained the document, Dr Ayad Allawi, a member of Iraq's ruling seven-man Presidential Committee, said the document was genuine.

"We are uncovering evidence all the time of Saddam's involvement with al-Qaeda," he said. "But this is the most compelling piece of evidence that we have found so far. It shows that not only did Saddam have contacts with al-Qaeda, he had contact with those responsible for the September 11 attacks."

Although Atta is believed to have been resident in Florida in the summer of 2001, he is known to have used more than a dozen aliases, and intelligence experts believe he could easily have slipped out of the US to visit Iraq.

Abu Nidal, who was responsible for the failed assassination of the Israeli ambassador to London in 1982, was based in Baghdad for more than two decades.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The United States welcomed news Monday of the death of Abu Nidal, a Palestinian guerrilla leader whose group has been blamed for attacks in more than 20 countries that have killed hundreds.

The Palestinian newspaper Al Ayyam said Nidal was suffering from a serious illness and apparently committed suicide in his Baghdad apartment.

Palestinian officials who spoke to CNN said they were told Nidal had been shot dead, but they could not describe the circumstances under which he died.
