This year's Pentagon report on China's military power is somewhat tougher than in previous years. Released Tuesday, the report concludes that China could threaten not just its smaller neighbors, like Taiwan, but in time "modern militaries operating in the region," which is Pentagon-speak for the United States. "The pace and scope of China's military are, already, such as to put regional military balances at risk," the Pentagon concludes. This report is a needed wake-up call following by a week the threat, since disavowed, by a ranking Chinese general that China would hit "hundreds" of U.S. cities with nuclear weapons if the United States should intervene if Beijing attacks Taiwan.

I suspect they are a major terror sponsor too. Just to keep us bogged down using resources to fight little scurmishes while they continue to build. Funny I never hear of any terror attacks in China. Normally you don't bite the hand that's feeding you.
They will be fooled, just like Russia was. They may have more people, but we outnumber them in will-power. We will prevail because we MUST.
The WMD in this war are financial. The Chinese have enough dollars to throw us into a depression were they to suddendly dump them.
Funny that in the Book of Revelation there is mention of a Great Red Dragon. I wonder why no one has come up with a theory that this might be China? Uhmnnnn...
I believe that many prophecy books have been written saying just that.
China has been a threat all along. They are biding their time, for now, before they make any major moves, like attacking Taiwan and potentially trying to take out some of our Naval assets, for openers.

"Red Dragon?"
been there, great Chinese restaurant in L.A. LOL
but seriesly, we have to recognize the Chicom danger and remember what Lenin said. Only he was partially right.
"When the time is right we will make great concessions and overtures of peace to the capitalists and they will sell us the rope with which we will hang them."
Lenin understood capitalists much better than he understood capitalism. He did not foresee that the capitalists would sell them the rope on credit.
Wouldn't be just diabolical of the Chinese to support an al Qaeda nuclear attack on the US? How to defeat the MAD defense strategy...
It seems odd to me that the US Navy is decommissioning S-3B Viking Anti-sub squadrons at the same time the Chinese are commisioning submarines.
This will leave carriers with only helos as organic air assets to protect them.
The Chinese can afford to bide their time, for now. The US is otherwise engaged, in fighting a foe that the Chinese have little affinity for, and unlikely to ever form an alliance with. This also provides the Chinese with considerable cover for their own military preparations, partly in the event that Western nations ever waver in their will to contain and domesticate the Islamic nations, and partly to be ready to use threat of force to cow a weakened Western alliance. Right now, threats to overrun Taiwan are coached in rather timid diplomatic language, because the US still answers strongly and forthrightly. But should the will of this country ever wane, the "one-China" policy will become a reality, and Taiwan will become another Hong Kong. And since the "overseas Chinese" are placed in so many other countries, there will be further claim to extend the hegemony of Chinese rule.
This places them in direct confrontation with the more amorphous Islamic influence that extends across most of southwestern and southeastern Asia. Only one obstacle stands in their way - the subcontinent of India, neither Chinese nor Muslim, the world's largest democracy, as they like to describe themselves, and a growing economic giant in their own right.
All Europe's dreams for the end to US influence to the world would soon be realized. Pretty empty victory, of course, because Europe itself will be almost unrecognizable within a few decades.
IIRC, the Libyan cache/arsenal now in the US included plans in Chinese.
according to what I heard this a.m., the explosives used in the London bombing attempt last week were Chinese...
no wonder they didn't go off.
The Chicoms should stick to what they know...firecrackers! LOL
The Bible foretold the rise of 200 million dragons in Revelation, rolling across the Euphrates when it dries up. Fortunately, the 200 million dragons will have trouble with a single river barrier. That is a good sign. There is hope, scripturally speaking.
I've noticed on Ebay that paintings from China are a tough sell. It's pretty amazing. I suspect, that if Chinese products were labelled better at the stores, China's exports would plummet. FRegards....
Well as long as people continue to buy MADE IN CHINA merchandise, we will continue to fund our enemy and the Chicom military.
Lenin's words could not sound truer than they do today...
You would have to believe that first..
One of the things in our advantage. Is the fact that we are at "war". And the only way to be good at it is to do it. We are developing alot of skills in doing our battles.
"Well as long as people continue to buy MADE IN CHINA merchandise, we will continue to fund our enemy and the Chicom military."
Right. And I pointed out that when the "made in China" message is easilly read, such as in Ebay when one wants to purchase by mail, then people shy away from buying from China.
"The Senate Armed Services committee recommended in July 2000 a provision that would authorize the Secretary of the Navy to enter into a contract for up to a total of five Virginia -class submarines between fiscal year 2003 and fiscal year 2006. The provision would authorize the Secretary to continue the shipbuilder teaming arrangement authorized in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1998 (Public Law 105 85). The Committedd required the Secretary of Defense to submit a report to the congressional defense committees with submission of the fiscal year 2002 President's budget to include a plan for maintaining at least 55 attack submarines through 2015, and a plan for achieving a force of 18 Virginia -class submarines by 2015; and assessments of savings to the program of production rates of two submarines per year, if that rate were to begin in fiscal year 2004 and construction were to continue at that rate in fiscal year 2006 and thereafter."
