Ex-intel officers speak on Plame's behalf

WASHINGTON - Eleven former intelligence officers are speaking up on behalf of CIA officer Valerie Plame, saying leaking her identity may have damaged national security and threatens the ability of U.S. intelligence gathering.

In a statement to congressional leaders, the former officers said the Republican National Committee has circulated talking points focusing on the idea that Plame was not working undercover and deserved no protection.

There are thousands of U.S. intelligence officers who work at a desk in the Washington, D.C., area every day who are undercover as Plame was when her identity was leaked, the 11 former officers said in a three-page statement.

The former officers' statement comes amid revelations that top presidential aide Karl Rove was involved in leaking Plame's identity to columnist Robert Novak and Time magazine reporter Matthew Cooper, and that Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, Lewis Libby, also was a source for Cooper on the Plame story.

The leaking of Plame's identity followed public criticism leveled against the Bush White House by Plame's husband, former U.S. Ambassador Joseph Wilson. He suggested the administration had manipulated intelligence to justify going to war in Iraq. A criminal investigation into the leaks is ongoing.

"Intelligence officers should not be used as political footballs," the 11 said. "In the case of Valerie Plame, she still works for the CIA and is not in a position to publicly defend her reputation and honor."

I read the other day that Ms. Plame-Wilson is still working for the CIA in a desk-jockey job on a part-time basis.

Those C.I.A. types know how to pile it wide and deep don't they. This organization is going to be on a short leash from now on with the reorganization and establishment of the Homeland Security Department.

The so called mission of Wilson (at the urging of secret agent Plum) was cooked up with the express purpose of damaging President Bush by the clique in the spy agency. It didn't work and now they are trying to cover their butts.

Why didn't the AP name them?!

Typical partial, selective reporting.

Anyone who wants to know where the Wilsons live-down to almost the exact street address, can find that info in the latest Time magazine article:

" Life After the Leak -TIME visits with Valerie Plame and Joseph Wilson at their home in Washington "
July 18,2005 Matthew Calabresi

Val and Joe willingly supply to Time Magazine many personal details of their private life including :
the location of their home ,
a description of the exterior
a description of the interior,
a description of their garage and the kids toys
the make and model of car they drive,
their names as listed on their mortgage and credit cards,
a physical description of Mrs Wilson,
and the view from their back yard ( in case the earlier descriptions were not specific enough. )

Their lawyer appeared on the Chris Matthew's " Tour de Rove Marathon " and identifed himself not only by name, but, as their next door neighbor.
As a father, I am disgusted that the Wilsons not only allowed Time magazine to print a road map to their house, but, they allowed Time to identify their young children by name and age.
What kind of sickos are the Wilsons ?

What stupid people.!

Why did her husband make this a political football, then?
Wonder whether, like Felt, they were passed over by Daddy.

It's easy to suspect that these 11 are a great part of the reason why we had 9/11. Their intelligence is lacking.

What exactly does that mean?

"Intelligence officers should not be used as political footballs," the 11 said. "In the case of Valerie Plame, she still works for the CIA and is not in a position to publicly defend her reputation and honor."

Unfortunately, her husband tried to use the protections to prevent the government from protecting itself from his lies. The laws were put in place in order to protect agents operating overseas outside of the protection of the U.S. government. They were not in place to give the ability to prevent response to political shots taken by agents or those hiding behind the agents.

so even if she were covert...Wilson is trying to grossly abuse the law.

$10 say Larry Johnson is one of the 11.

The NYT outs Aero Contractors as the secret CIA airline (a/k/a front company) yet the media isn't outraged. And they don't consider the CIA personnel who work there in danger. Only Valrie.

Yet what Valerie has done helps the terrorists, because it weakens the man who wants them dead or defeated, George Bush. So they cry crocodille tears about her safety. Terrorists would give her a medal.

But those at Aero Contractors transport terrorists, the people held at Abu Gharib and GITMO. Abu Gharib is a military base and risky to attack. GITMO is a military base surrounded by Cuba, no way to get there to attack it.

And then there's Aero Contractors on a isolated public airport in a rural setting. Not hard to find thanks to the New York Times.

Some CIA employees are rabid liberal Democrats because they live in the DC area and wanted a job for life. Their culture and religion is secular liberalism in the Democrat rite.
