Father of 9/11 hijacker warns of 50-year war

The father of one of the September 11 hijackers said today he had no sorrow for what had happened in London and claimed more terrorist attacks would follow.

Egyptian Mohamed el-Amir, whose son Mohamed Atta commandeered the first plane that crashed into the World Trade Centre in New York, said there was a double standard in the way the world viewed the victims in London and victims in the Islamic world.

El-Amir said the attacks in the US and the July 7 attacks in Britain were the beginning of what would be a 50-year religious war, in which there would be many more fighters like his son.

Speaking to a CNN producer in his apartment in the upper-middle-class Cairo suburb of Giza, he declared that terror cells around the world were a "nuclear bomb that has now been activated and is ticking".

Cursing in Arabic, el-Amir also denounced Arab leaders and Muslims who condemned the London attacks as being traitors and non-Muslims.

He passionately vowed that he would do anything within his power to encourage more attacks.

"...Aside from the history reference "No country, no past, no history to be proud of" - which was wrong ..."

Alright, when I'm wrong and corrected on it, I'll admit it. Read my tagline. If Islam isn't a cult, it sure acts like it. Only the stakes are higher for those that don't want to go along with them. BTW, it makes me sick to see how many people have forgotten why we're involved in this fight. The MSM ran the Abbu Grab (sp) story into the ground. Same with Gittmo. But I can't tell you when the last time I saw them do a story on the WTC attacks. It seems that by November of 2001, all images were removed from tv. that is something that should be shown regularly as a reminder to why the WOT is before us.

I tend to agree with your comments about the press.

Whereas the events at Gitmo and Abu Gharib themselves are quite unpalatable, these things happen in war.

That much said, the press needs to be as thoroughly responsible and controlled as it was during WWII.

The only thing which I blame Bush for not doing is for actually challenging the American public after 9/11.

He told people to go shopping and that left a sour taste in my mouth.

We should have either put 30 million boots on the ground or begun a Manhattan project to switch away from oil.

We did not mobilize society like WWII and therefore the press doesn't get it either. But the threat is the same.

"El-Amir said the attacks in the US and the July 7 attacks in Britain were the beginning of what would be a 50-year religious war, in which there would be many more fighters like his son."

Someone needs to remind this rag-headed goat-humper that the USA just finished a fifty-year war with a nation with far more resources than the entire Muslim world can muster.

To coin a phrase--"don't start something you stand no chance of finishing".

They were patriots until Vietnam. Unfortunately the greatest generation may have raised one of the worst generations America has ever known. Their selfishness, and self-righteous entitlement is what the conservative movement has been fighting for 40 years. The press is both a cheerleader and a reflection of this.

By the way, which class starship are you representing A, D, E?

I believe the threat from islam today is greater than the threat we faced in Imperial Japan and the Third Reich. The reasons are numerous. First, and foremost, the availability of nuclear weapons on the black market. In 1941, neither Japan nor Germany had nukes, but we're not sure today whether or not our muslim enemy has them. If so, you can be sure they will use them in our cities. Second, the ocean buffer no longer is there. Air travel can place muslim enemies in CONUS, if they are already not here. Third, political correctness in our society does not permit the government to clearly identify the enemy, much less to begin rounding up, confining, and ultimately deporting them in mass numbers. Fourth, against whom or where do we retaliate in the event of a nuclear detonation within CONUS? Do we obliterate Tehran, Baghdad, Damascus, Cairo, Riyadh, Islamabad, Mecca, Medina, or any or all of the above? How much nuclear damage to the world will we be willing do create? Nuclear radiation and fallout do not respect borders or states, so what are we left with to fight?

We are facing a stateless, faceless enemy more than 1 billion strong that is raised from birth dedicated to our submission to its 12th Century ways. We are not mobilized nor on any sort of war footing as we were starting on December 7th, 1941. The citizenry, except for a small proportion, are not involved and likely do not realize the danger we face as a nation and a society. Unless our President makes this clear, and exhorts us into action, we will be in trouble. This enemy is patient, thinks in terms of centuries, is implacable, has the means, and will have the wherewithal to do us in if we do not vanquish it first.

"Twenty years of war? Fifty? The last time we got into a war with the Muslims it lasted for centuries."

- That was when all the west had were swords. With modern weapons, we could end the war in 50 minutes, not 50 years. All we need is a reason big enough to unleash the full wrath of our country. 9/11 wasn't big enough apparently.

The media: molders of minds and publice opinion. Great, aren't they?

The "E" class. I always like the styling of the "A", didn't care for the "D", but the "E" has great lines. The original wasn't bad either.

You are so correct in this statement. And I think it is still time to do a Manhattan style project to end our foreign oil dependence.

He's right, we should give equal concern to the victims in the Islamic world, after all, those murdered in London were done by muslim terrorists, and the people murdered in the Islamic world are also murdered by muslim terrorists. Well, maybe not, too many muslims encourage the terrorists who repay that by murdering the same people who support them.

The other being DeForrest Kelly. Looks like Scotty has finally requested to be beamed up. Died on the 36th annivesary of the first manned lunar landing. RIP James Doohan.

Don't get me started on this Tom Brokaw greatest generation crap. They fought in WWII, managed the unsuccessful Vietnam War and spawned the selfish Baby Boomer generation. Their parents fought in Spanish American and WWI and managed another successful war, WWII, and spawned the somewhat successful WWII or so called "greatest" generation. So which IS the greatest generation?

They also fully embraced the isms, and mainstreamed pop psychology, pornography and political correctness amongst numerous other disfunctional fads and behaviors. They also had the tendency to segregate themselves in leisure oriented enclaves, and neglected passing their culture as they received it from their parents onto the next generation.

They were not good stewards of this country and we are seeing the results.
