Father of 9/11 hijacker warns of 50-year war
The father of one of the September 11 hijackers said today he had no sorrow for what had happened in London and claimed more terrorist attacks would follow.
Egyptian Mohamed el-Amir, whose son Mohamed Atta commandeered the first plane that crashed into the World Trade Centre in New York, said there was a double standard in the way the world viewed the victims in London and victims in the Islamic world.
El-Amir said the attacks in the US and the July 7 attacks in Britain were the beginning of what would be a 50-year religious war, in which there would be many more fighters like his son.
Speaking to a CNN producer in his apartment in the upper-middle-class Cairo suburb of Giza, he declared that terror cells around the world were a "nuclear bomb that has now been activated and is ticking".
Cursing in Arabic, el-Amir also denounced Arab leaders and Muslims who condemned the London attacks as being traitors and non-Muslims.
He passionately vowed that he would do anything within his power to encourage more attacks.
At this point all of the comments on this thread have ranged from flippant to barely hidden genocidal, to down-right ignroant (talking about you NCC-1701).
The dumbest things one can possibly do when facing an enemy are to 1. underestimate him 2. not beleive his resolve is as strong on ones own and 3. not actually try and learn as much about him as possible.
In terms of analysis, our top boys are predicting 20 years of war. That basicially means that the current recuits and their younger brothers will then be too old and worn down to either want to blow themselves up or to teach their children to do the same.
This guy, on the other hand, is talking about 2 and half generations of war. Why is that and could there be merit to it?
I wonder what the predictions were in 1948 for how long it would take for Israel to be accepted in the Middle East? We are now pushing about 60 years of war there.
Any intelligent comments out there?
BTTT!
Considering that the vast majority of Islamic repression is done by other Muslims, go suck eggs.
The more he talks the more he only strengthens our side.
The dumbest things one can possibly do when facing "FReepers" are to 1. underestimate him 2. not beleive his resolve is as strong on ones own and 3. not actually try and learn as much about him as possible.
Corrected!
The development of an appropriate force is not going to happen before 2008, and if Mrs. Clinton is elected the earliest we could start is January of 2013.
Will that be too late?
The Old Testament describes such a place in hell "where the fire is never quenched and the worm die-th not" It is a place of unremitting, unrelenting, misery, torment, and woe.
What was "ignroant" your spelling, about his comments?
Actually I was primarily referring to your comments that Islam has no real history or civilization from which these maniacs come.
To the contrary, they know quite a bit about the mythology of what was truly once one of the world's greatest civilizations.
Unfortunately they pretty mcuh stopped moving forward at century twelve and starting going back. In fact 10th century Islam was far more advanced and tolerant than it is today.
What happened to them, is what will happen to us if we let the Kansas Kreationists pollute our understanding of what science actually is.
Aside from the history reference "No country, no past, no history to be proud of" - which was wrong - you are free to your overall opinion on the matter.
And we'll be more than willing to kill more people like his "son."
It's not that we lack the equipment, what we lack is the determination and the will to fight until they are utterly defeated.
We were able to conquer and occupy Germany and Japan 60 years ago with far less equipment and technology than we have available today.
It might take a nuke or two.
Are you really going to make me look back at all your posts to find spelling mistakes.
Grammar is more of a sign of ignorance than the simple switching of two letters here. I am typing you know and it is more of a sign of laziness - given the spellcheck option - than of any lack of intelligence.
Amazing that I had to clarify that for you.
Twenty years of war? Fifty? The last time we got into a war with the Muslims it lasted for centuries.
"Any intelligent comments out there?"
This is an emotional topic. Judging intelligent comments is subjective.
First, I'd say, go easy on other posters. When I hear of people who want me dead simply because I exist, it inflames me too. Perhaps some are young and not tempered, that's not always bad.
I have been studying the enemy. I'm convinced this is a war. It's a war just a sure as any war that's ever happened. The difference is, we are at war with a cult, not a nation. A shadowy, ruthless, clever opponent who is not easily vanquished. This is an enemy who is filled with anger, and a hate that we can't understand. They are taught, from the time they are young, that infidels are less than human. It's in their holy book, how can it be wrong?!
This sets them free to kill without remorse. It also fills them with a resolve we don't understand. Most Americans are happy if they have the weekend off, and they can watch the latest reality BS on tv. Many, (most?), Americans have no clue that they are a target of islam.
I blame our leaders for not drawing attention to what is really happening.
There are too many muslims to "kill them all". And, it goes against what we believe to be right. However, we will have to do some things we find distasteful. This is an enemy with a 7th century mindset and access to modern weaponry.
We will have to be vigilant, and prosecute this as a war, not a criminal case. This means all muslims are suspect, just as in World War II all Germans and Japanese were suspect.
We should welcome muslims who assimilate, and deport those who don't. We should be firm, and convince the muslim world that moderation will win favor, and extremism will bring death and destruction to their own house.
Anything less than that, and you may as well start shopping now for your prayer rug and koran.
And for the record you clarified nothing.
I concede both of your points. I need to be more careful with my language. The word should have been "thoughtful" not "intelligent". I will try and be more careful in the future.
That was a really good post by the way.
