(JND) - As I sat down to read through some scripture Thursday night, I reached for the remote to turn off the already-turned-on TV.
It was then that a sit-down session between Jon Stewart and Howrad Dean on Comedy Central's The Daily Show caught my attention. Howard Dean speaking on national television...it's like watching a car crash in slow-motion.
I couldn't resist.
I set down my Bible, turned on the laptop, and prepared my fingers to record what sound bytes might spew from Dean's mouth. I didn't have to wait for long.
"I have yet to find a reference to gay marriage in the Bible." said Dean...
...I'm not the first, and I won't be the last to say this: "Howard Dean, you sir are a complete idiot."
...In a Q&A session by GotQuestions.org: "The Bible clearly and consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; I Cor. 6:9). God does not create a person with homosexual desires. A person becomes a homosexual because of sin( Rom 1:24-27), and ultimately because of their own choice. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person choosing to sin by giving into their sinful desires. If a person is born with a greater susceptibility to anger/rage, does that make it right for them to give into those desires? Of course not! The same is true for homosexuality."
The Q&A also goes on to say, "To give sanction to homosexual marriage would be to give approval to that lifestyle, which the Bible clearly and consistently condemns as sinful. I believe that Christians should stand firmly against the idea of gay marriage....

"I have yet to find a reference to gay marriage in the Bible."
Know absolutely one immutable fact: God doesn't talk to Dippy Dean and Dippy Dean doesn't hear God when God does speak.
Howard Dean is the man who began singing the Star-Spangled Banner into his microphone while on stage at a campaign rally when he obviously didn't know the words.
At least he's entertaining.
"At least he's entertaining."

The more Dean talks, the further down the tubes the Democratic Party goes. All the better for the rest of us.
You're right.
Also, the things he says and does are deliciously memorable.
You should hear my ten-year-old do the Howard Dean yell!
Yes Al used to send him tapes... My favorite Al song was just Al and his Accordion on a tape doing a ode to mass transit called "Another one rides the Bus" to the tunes of Queens "Another one bites the Dust"....
Oingo Boingo also got part of there start sending tapes to DrD when they were "The Mystic Knight of the Oingo Boingo"
DrD was and LA radio legend in the 70,80...7 to 10 Sunday night on the Might Met (DrD was syndicated around the country later but started and home station was in LA)
"Little bit of Heaven 94.7 KMET..Twee del Dee!"
Might Met ...Greatest FM Rock station ever! RIP
(Can't believe they kill "The Might Met" for that new age crap "muzak" "the wave"
"Gay marrisage" in the bible was called
Sodomites, so look no farther. God sent the fire down on them, and finished off the City of Sodom. It is now under the Dead Sea.
Nor a Gay Pride Parade in Riyadh.
The Bible also makes no mention of drunk driving or child molestation. Guess they must be okay too...
Actually I suppose he's right. It is described as such an abomonation the discussion never reaches the context of marriage....

I have just one of Weird Al's cds -- some kind of greatest hits compilation I think. Another One Rides the Bus is on there. His stuff is brilliant, and in interviews, he comes off as a real down-to-earth guy.
I just barely remember Oingo-Boingo. DJs like Dr. Demento were about the only ones who would promote guys like these. Certainly, the ones out there now (all owned by corporate giants like Clear Channel) would never give these acts the time of day, and that's too bad.
And who can forget "Pico and Sepulveda", the "Shaving Cream" song, "Boobsalot" and Wild Man Fisher...
Dr. Demento truly was a classic.....as for "Dr." Dean, well, he's just a jerk.
I saw this was moved to respond, but then anyone who read the Bible would be aware of the many, numerous and frequently repellent descriptions of perverted sexual behaviors abominated by the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jesus. Homosexuality is included among them.
I find particuarly telling those passages enjoining the Israelites NOT to follow these abominable practises or the "land will vomit you forth". We should take heed of this warning ourselves in America.
Mr. Dean is an ignorant man and/or a liar, in addition to being a deeply disturbed one.
bttt
so what about lesbians?
And the chapter where it is called an abomination ends with a divine death threat. I take death threats seriously.
Dean's ability for making repeated stupid statements is the Proverbial dog returning to his vomit.
I dunno. I once observed a regional debate and vote on ordaining practicing homosexuals in the Presbyterian church. I saw at least 50 elders and ordained ministers get up and speak on behalf of their congregations in approving this, and only one of these even mentioned a bible verse...and took it horribly out of context.
there is an interesting dichotomy in that Chapter on what is given as the basis for condemning the behavior. Many of the practices are considered shameful, and thus you should not do them. ...then they get to homosexuality which is called an abomination, and is part of the grouping into which bestiality is put.
HAhahahahaaa.... That was great....
