So the police are responsible for the behavior of these children and the lack of responsibility of the parents. This is a tragedy, not a crime, but I guess in Camden, someone's done gots to get paid.
Uh, since the police searched the car while the boys were alive in the trunk.
And the police missed them.
Don't you think they bear some responsibility?
My thoughts exactly. Where the hell were the parents? Why wasn't the lock on the trunk of the inoperable car removed? Where were the parents? What were they thinking?
How tragic, the police really should have looked in that car.. But missing something in a seach does not make them responable for not supervising the kids, and to be fair how many of us have our eyes on an 11 year old all the time?
"...the father of one of the boys found them dead in the trunk of an inoperable car sitting just feet from where they had been playing."
Surely everyone (including the police) were within a few feet of this car...especially during the start of the searching. Were these kids not kicking and screaming inside the trunk, off and on, for at least two or three hours? I would think the average 3-4 year old (and these kids were a little older, weren't they?) would be making a heck of a racket to get out!
(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,
There is some question as to whether or not the police could have been more thorough in the initial search of the vehicle but I agree that the parents bear the responsibility for their children.
By the way, that's cute the way you put the parents in their place and at the same time made fun of the way some people in Camden talk. Give yourself two pats on the back. Nicely done.
It didn't occur to the idiot parents to check the trunk?
If the children were playing within feet of the car before they disappeared wouldn't that be one of the first places a normal person would look?
Trying to make a few bucks off this tragedy is what they're doing. People who don't take responsibility for their own stupidity make me sick!
My kids wouldn't be missing for three hours before I called for help!
"This is a tragedy, not a crime."I agree 100%.What am i missing here? Are car trunks soundproof?I assume someone must have at least taken a cursory look thru the vehicle.Openend doors, looked under the car,but no sounds from 3 boys supposedly still alive inside? That's odd.Of course there will be no shortage of plantiff's attorneys beating down the parent's doors.
Was the immigration status of these folks ever confirmed?
Otherwise, the responsibility would rest on his clients: the parents.
Oh sure blame the police because you are stupid. This sucks and has $$$$ written all over and under it - just a POS!!
If these children were mine, I would be so guilt ridden for having NOT thought to look in the trunk that I don't believe I could go on. It's bad enough to lose a child and it must seem completely unforgiveable to know you could have saved them but were simply too stupid to think.
In Chandra Levy's case, the police searchers also overlooked the body. Same for scores of other missing children, such as Polly.
Oh no.
What was the make and model of the car? Perhaps they could sue GM, Ford or who ever? Heck, why stop there? Let's sue the local weatherman for not warning us about the dangers that lurk in an otherwise beautiful, sunny day?
How horrible....just awful!!! Sickens' me. Poor babies.
I'm not blaming the kids here but I don't understand why they weren't making noise trying to be heard - especially during the first few hours.
I just hate this story.
The police were called 3 hours after the search began. The car probably wasn't the first thing that was searched. So in reality, the 3 boys could have been unconscious by that time and not making any noise at all. Hindsight is always a great teacher, the trunk should have been searched by someone, albeit the police or parent. The police should not be held liable for this tragedy.
