Nothing that has ever worked before; they seem to love just having the issue and not being realistic about what we have now and what we can get.

Unfortunately, if you just ignore them and don't challenge their ill-founded statements, it appears that they speak for us all.

No, Landrieu and Clement are personal friends, not political allies. They know each other because they are both high-ranking, very successful Catholic women in New Orleans. You cannot impute Landrieu's unacceptable views to Clement.

The liberal media wanted Gonzales. That was the only person they talked and asked about for like three days after O'Conner retired. Everyone else was given the silent treatment. That's why nobody has ever heard of this woman until today.

It would be funny if it was someone other than Clement just to make the media look bad.

In one state? Enforce the state's abortion laws.

Thats not what you said. You said the police could close down the nation's abortion clinics in a single day. Again I ask, by what legal method?

And what state has abortion laws that if enforced would grant the state police the power and authority to shut them all down in a single day?

If SCOTUS flips, then you're left with state court rulings, but since most of those state rulings rely on Roe, you can arrest first and wait for the state court to rule later.

So what your saying is that if SCOTUS overturns Roe, states should then move and shut down abortion clinics immediatetly and arrest the employees, hold them without charge until the state court rules abortion illegal and then charge them with performing illegal abortions? Sorry, that won't fly and never should.

You could close down the nation's abortion clinics in a single day using normal police.

Pardon me for not trusting the Republicans when they nominate someone with no proven track record after giving us Souter, O'Connor and Kennedy and promising they were conservative.

Some else posted this, BTW:

She (Edith Clement) has been strongly supported by Mary Landrieu, who is on Emily's list.

I'm sorry, I hadn't noticed your tagline before. I don't think I'll be discussing this anymore with you.

Gosh, I can't believe I posted that.

There's no reason for anybody who is a conservative to "go over the edge" today; Bush is going to nominate a conservative.

If not now, when?

OK but he is making a good point, it's counter-productive to freak out before we know who the President has chosen.

OK. Let me ask you this. Would you rather elect politicians by default that are going to allow Islamists to nuke this country?

"Exactly. And judges that are going to begin nibbling away at Roe are a step in the right direction."

Which goes to my original point. There will be no "Nibbling away at Roe" if the right people are not appointed.

Redstate.org is saying that now it is Edith Jones!!! WH has been playing a game of bait and switch.

If it is Jones, that would be great.

Certainly I understand why that quote triggers conservative fear, but fear is an emotion.

Only the facts are relevant here and we're in solid agreement if Clement is the nominee, our Senators need to question this Judge anew on precedent. Not as a prospective appeals nominee, but as a prospective Supreme.

Yep, and a diet A&W to wash it down with. The Pres was thinking about us when he delayed the announcement until evening. He knew we'd need to get to the grocery store and stock up.
