I hope man do I hope that you are right that GWB was eyeballing her way back when and he knew she was a rock ribbed conservative.

The problem is that when I look at her, she screams "MODERATE". That is totally judgmental and superficial, I know.

But it is also warranted. Moderates are superficial. Anyone who spends that much time on hair and (probably) cosmetic surgery...ain't going to be the next Clarence Thomas.

In my opinion.

The only way you change Roe is to change the culture.

That's a fortune cookie platitude: Sounds high-minded, but it's hokum.

The way you change Roe is...to change Roe.

Of course overturning Roe will not by itself totally transform the culture. It will only return the decision to the elected legislatures, where it rightly, constitutionally resided -- pre-Roe.

As Ann Coulter says in her excellent column (linked by nina0113 right below your post), all the hearts that can be changed, have changed, after 32 years of Roe. And after 40 million+ destroyed babies.

Time for Roe to go.

WE CAN'T EVEN PASS A LAW BANNING PARTIAL-BIRTH ABORTION thanks to the tyrannical court system.

Maybe, just maybe, a new member on the court will help in that effort, that's a real possibility, I'm counting on it, let's wait and see.

To tell the truth, my first vote for a third party candidate (first ever for a non-Republican) in 2004 was liberating. I recommend it.

I hope the candidate you voted for, kept his day job.

"But Judge Brown needs to "season" on the Circuit Court before she is "ready" to move up to the Supreme Court."

How many years did she spend on the CA Supreme Court? Serving as a Supreme Court Justice in as large a state as California is "seasoning" enough by my book.

Judge Brown is 56 already, and if President Bush waits 2-3 years for her to "season" as a Circuit Judge, she might be viewed as "too old" to nominate, assuming that there's a vacancy in 2007 or 2008 in the first place. And even if she was nominated at such time, the 2-year delay would merely give the Democrats an excuse to say that "circumstances have changed" because of her "recent extremist court opinions" which makes her susceptible to a filibuser, something that would be very difficult for Democrats to do right now because they just voted to end her filibuster and to confirm her.

So I say there's no time like the present. President Bush, nominate Judge Janice Rogers Brown today!

Can you imagine how low Bush's approval ratings would sink if he breaks his promise to appoint a Scalia-like originalist? He would be despised by both the left and the right. He would destroy the one thing he has had in office -- a reputation of being principled and honest as well.

There's quite a feeding frenzy going on on TV right now, it appears; everybody in D.C. is rushing to a microphone.

Thanks for posting the link to the Ann Coulter column about Roe.

Nobody says it better than Ann.

He promised another jurist like Scalia and Thomas. She's something else.

She's to the right of Scalia on federalism, *way* to the right. I'll take that type of "something else" any day of the week.

One guess is as good as any other around here, in regard to the SCOTUS.

You or I are likely to be at variance with BB at any given time, and be correct. Upon this BB and I have disagreed when given the opportunity.

I don't agree. Conservative women are usually very well put together. Whenever there is some lefty goofball yacking away on TV you can spot them right away. They usually have flat hair, little to no make-up and look upset.
