How about nominating Dick Cheny for the vacancy?

Then naming a new, younger Vice President, who will immediately become the front runner in '08 and take away the lame duck status of this administration???

You are absolutely right! That's probably why W looked so giddy this morn! It's gonna be someone we least expect! I still think Garza or Brown will be a surprise card! OBTW, those names floating around, Clements and company should be considered "Speculation" only! I don't think W would leak names to the presstitutes this early or he did it intentionally...SMART FOX! Can't wait to hear who it is...PLEASE let it be a true conservative....whew! Let's see who it is!

I pray you're right, Howlin.
I have to admit that this kind of thing makes me too nervous.
SCOTUS is SO IMPORTANT.

Actually this is one of the longest periods between a retirement announcement and the naming of a nominee, so I wouldn't classify it as rushing out a name.

Bush is in a hurry to name a SC nominee to get Rove off the front page.

If he really wants to get Rove off the front page... then he should name a true conservative. Naming a consensus pick that the Dems like won't take up much air time.

I hope you don't mind, I followed you over here!

Do you happen to know what they are voting on in the Senate?

I'm hoping this "Clement" thing is just a red herring....and that he goes with "Jones".

You know she was sitting in the WH when the bigs decided to go with Souter...

You are wrong. He "wasn't sure" right up to the committee vote. Got him lots of free press, which came in handy for his Senate run.
