A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

You'd Never Believe...
why this is not a super-duper-wonderful-knock-your-socks-off thread... and instead a let's-see-what-we-can-throw-together-quickly effort. But here are some possibilies
1.Oliver had 24 kittens. 2. The FBI confiscated my computer. 3. Hurrican Dennis took off our roof. 4. Woolfie and I had a mad 4 day get-away 5. I had heart, lung, liver, brain transplant over weekend. 6. I was out of state getting art lessons from Billie. 7. As I was kayaking on the Euphrates River I decided to visit w/troops a few days 8. My HTML went on pity-party strike for user abuse. 9. I went flying with Dutchess to California to see Just Amy & Mama_bear. 10. Diver Dave, Scubachick and I went to the Bahamas to check out the water and hurricanes. 11. I went to help Gabz following her foot surgery. 12.Snugs needed help in England with her dad. 13. Aquamarine needed some help sorting out her geodes. 14. I stuck my foot in my mouth(again) & needed to have surgical removal. 15. I joined Lance/crew for the most recent stage of the Tour de France..
Well, whatever the reason.. ..
HERE WE BE!!!! ..
And we will be for 3 days on this one thread. So post fun things, words of wisdom & use this for a three day HTML sandbox - think billie will be around to help ...but a few will be traveling.
And to use this time to wish a happy birthday to my DEAR son Jeff who turned 33 yesterday. His bride of 10+ years Shannon has a birthday today. Here they are with their two children at Stan Hywet last summer.

But I thought these were funny & I hope you will enjoy them

Fashion considerations for "mature" women"
Many of us (those over 40, way over 40 or hovering near 40) can be confused about how we should present ourselves.
We're unsure about the kind of image we are projecting and whether or not we are correct as we try to conform to the current fashions.
Despite what you may have seen on the streets, the following combinations DO NOT go together and should be avoided:
1. A nose ring and bifocals
2. Spiked hair and bald spots
3. A pierced tongue and dentures
4. Miniskirts and support hose
5. Ankle bracelets and corn pads
6. Speedo's and cellulite
7. A belly button ring and a gall bladder surgery scar
8. Unbuttoned disco shirts and a heart monitor
9. Midriff shirts and a midriff bulge
10. Bikinis and liver spots
11. Short shorts and varicose veins
12. Inline skates and a walker
And last, but not least...my personal favorite
: 13. Thongs and Depends (barfffff )
Please keep these basic guidelines foremost in your mind when you shop.

Happy birthday Dolly. Be sure to make a wish and blow out all the candles.
To: Temple Owl; Pippin; All
Thank you both for the birthday wishes (but my birthday is Nov 6) - and this is a decade turning over birthday so I am not wanting to rush it, if you know what I mean!!!
My son and DIL were the 18th/19th. My grandaughter the 13th & my mom's the 12th
Have to write up a couple proposals/detailed for two church programs I am facilitating this fall.
One is a support group for divorcees/widows/widowers.. it will be the precursor of a singles group but will be ongoing.
The second is the "chubby group".. AND IF YOU COULD HELP WITH NAMES, I WOULD APPRECIATE IT, that one is my little code name but would not go over too well. This group will be discussion, support, exercise .. there will be a Christian perspective. We will NOT emphasize one weight reduction program but each time we meet will discuss one of them..pros/cons (atkins, south beach etc). We will have age limit of 12-up. 12-14 should have parent with them. It is male or female but my experience has been it is mostly women. As it is a support group it has the mentality of what happens there stays there (like in Vegas)
Names I am thinking of 8 Fs (Farewell Fat, Flab, Forever; Finding Fitness For Fulfillment (help me here?)
I have done both of these types of groups in other churches & was normally given carte blanc because leadership knew me well etc. I am new enough here that they want to "look things over"... understandably.
What I had started was on the computer that when kapuee.. I think when my friend gets to it, it will be retreivable but need it tonight.

Well sorry to take so long to get back to you. I'm just plugging away at work here. The weather is HOT! Probably not as hot as Amy's weather, but I think we have more humidity. Good thing though, we'd probably have a desert without our midwestern humidity! According to yahoo the temp is 95F & the humidity 49%, it supposedly feels like 105F. That was at 3 and it's almost 4, which reminds me -- I GOTTA GO! See ya tomorrow! Bye sweetie!

God Bless his family. He was a fine man and actor. He also was a Canadian veteran of WWII.

Remember This!
It's the soldier not the reporter who gives you the freedom of the press.
It's the soldier not the poet who gives you the freedom of speech.
It's the soldier not the campus organizer who allows you to demonstrate.
It's the soldier who salutes the flag, serves the flag, whose coffin is draped with the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag!!!
"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen."

I liked Scotty's..sweetest voice.. and knew of his Canadian ties/war service.. I like Star trek (the original) . prolly would have like the newer series but never got into it.
I just got in from meeting at church & then tour de France stage at sports bar (I don't have cable/satellite)

Scottys Beam-Up
Scotty got his beam-up. Im sure it went quite well.
Theres just no way an engineer would ever end in He!!.
Oh, my, the consternation! The divvils would be glum,
As after only minutes there, the broken things would Hum!
That AC that was useful just for making He!!ish noise,
Would soon be working smoothly, and no Freon it employs.
The water taps would flow again, and fevered thirsts would slake,
And Charons boat could cruise about, out on a gentle lake.
The lifts would be put in order, and commerce could resume,
That backlog of requests for ice was reaching to the moon!
The problem this engenders, (and who the devil cares?)
Is that the engineer might then check out the stuff upstairs.
Im sure that hed be welcome, and glad to see his mates,
But I just know hed soon be putting oil upon those Gates!
Hed want to swing them wide, Im sure, to bring a truck though there.
Cause with his eye for trouble, even Heaven needs repair!
